Singer Taylor Swift reportedly seeks a public apology from reality TV star Kim Kardashian over the 2016 Kanye West phone call. Swift, in her Time "Person of the Year" cover story, criticized Kardashian for releasing the call, which she described as "edited" and "illegal."

The decade-long feud between Swift and the former husband and wife duo started at the 2009 MTV VMAs and escalated with West's song "Famous." Swift, addressing the fallout in her Time magazine interview, highlighted the "psychological" toll it had on her.

Swift slammed Kardashian for releasing a phone call she had with West, during the peak of her feud with the controversial rapper in 2016.

The “Blank Space” hitmaker expressed her discontent over the incident, and according to insiders, Swift is willing to let go of the incident if the SKIMS founder publicly apologizes to her.

Per the sources, the situation warrants a "public I’m sorry” since Swift remains unconvinced of Kardashian and West's reason for releasing the phone call. Swift was reportedly surprised when the mom-of-four reiterated her stance, even after the complete, unedited version of their phone conversation was made public.

The unedited audio clip proved that the star never gave West permission to refer to her as a "b----" in his song, "Famous."

The longstanding feud between Swift and West traces back to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. During Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Music Video, the “Power” singer infamously interrupted, insisting Beyoncé deserved the recognition.

“Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” he said.

Tensions escalated further in 2016 when West referenced the “Out of the Woods” hitmaker in his song "Famous," with controversial lyrics. The lyrics read: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b---- famous.”

After the song went viral, Swift insisted she never permitted West to use her name in the song, prompting Kardashian to release an edited phone call between the Grammy-winning artists.

In her Time magazine cover story, Swift addressed the fallout from the West and Kardashian controversy, describing it as a "fully manufactured frame job in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar.”

The “Look What You Made Me Do” singer emphasized the psychological toll of the edited phone call release, stating: “That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year.” She continued, “I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”

She revealed the profound impact the saga had on her mental health, feeling like a “career death” and fearing “that moment of backlash was going to define me negatively for the rest of my life.”

"Nothing is permanent. So I'm very careful to be grateful every second that I get to be doing this at this level, because I've had it taken away from me before," Swift added. “There is one thing I've learned: My response to anything that happens, good or bad, is to keep making things. Keep making art.”

Taking one last swing, she concluded: “I've also learned there's no point in actively trying to quote-unquote defeat your enemies. Trash takes itself out every single time.”

In a 2019 appearance on an E! talk show with her sisters, Khloe and Kourtney, Kim seemingly updated her stance on the Swift feud during a game called Squash That Beef hosted by Andy Cohen.

The “American Horror Story: Delicate” actress expressed being "over it" and suggested that time had diffused the situation, emphasizing that everyone had moved on.

When asked if she and Swift had spoken, Kim replied, "No. I feel like we've all moved on." In another interview last year, Kim shared her appreciation for Swift's songs, stating, “I really like a lot of her songs. They're all super cute and catchy.”
