Alan Ruck has been hit with a lawsuit over an accident in Hollywood, which allegedly left a motorist with serious injuries.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the vehicle owner claims the actor collided with their vehicle before crashing into a pizzeria and is now suing for negligence.
Alan Ruck Sued For Causing Massive Car Crash
In the filing, a disgruntled car owner, identified as Horacio Vela, has sued Ruck following a horrific car accident, which included the actor crashing into a pizza shop.
Vela claims in his lawsuit that he was waiting at a red light at the intersection of La Brea Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard when his vehicle was impacted by another car behind him, later identified to be Ruck in his 2023 Rivian R1T pickup truck.
The alleged victim added that Ruck's actions forced his car into the oncoming traffic, where he made another collision with a vehicle turning onto La Brea Avenue. As we reported, Ruck's vehicle continued its rampage and eventually crashed into a pizza shop, identified as Raffalo's Pizza.
Ruck's accuser notes that he suffered "severe injuries and damages," which include dizziness, memory loss, and fogginess. According to his attorney, these are signs of brain damage. The collision allegedly left him unconscious at the scene, after which he was told he had a subdural hematoma.
Following the accident, the alleged victim was rushed to a hospital via ambulance from the scene.
Vela claims in his suit that the accident left him with "property damage, costs of past and future medical care, pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, and other consequential damages"
According to NBC News, Neama Rahmani, Vela's attorney, said, “Accidents happen. That’s what insurance is for. But Alan Ruck’s insurance company, State Farm, has refused to accept responsibility for the crash."
Rahmani continued, "Ruck says he doesn’t know what happened, and the Los Angeles Police Department says it was a vehicle issue while Rivian, the manufacturer, says the truck was working properly. In this case, multiple people were hit, and a business was damaged. We believe Ruck is responsible for the damages, and we filed a lawsuit to subpoena evidence and witnesses to prove our case."
Ruck has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
Alan Ruck Speaks Out After The Car Accident
Shortly after the massive car accident, Ruck was spotted out with a noticeable limp in his steps. As previously reported by The Blast, the actor had a run-in with paparazzi who inquired about his health and well-being following the car crash.
The actor, who seemed a little confused at first at the presence of the photographers, eventually told them he was "okay" and was doing well physically. He also noted how thankful he was that no one died in the process.
"I’m fine and thank God nobody was killed," Ruck stated as he proceeded to approach his vehicle while still sporting a noticeable limp. Drawn to the actor's movement, the photographers expressed that it was good to see him still be able to move despite the ghastly car accident.
On hearing this, Ruck stated that his limp was not from the pizzeria crash, but instead, due to his age. He said, "This isn’t from the accident. This is because I’m getting older."
