Allison Holker Returns To 'SYTYCD' As A Judge

The professional dancer joins Maksim Chmerkovskiy of "DWTS," Nigel Lythgoe, and guest judge Comfort Fedoke to judge contestants on the 18th season of the epic dance show.

Fox Network was beyond excited to announce the new addition to the show, which will see host Cat Deeley make a return. Holker and Boss previously slugged it out on the All-Star edition of "SYTYCD," with the late Boss returning as a judge for the show's 17th season.

As for Chmerkovskiy, this is his first time appearing on the "SYTYCD" after years of serving moves on "DWTS" and even choreographing for the series. Holker also had a history with "DWTS" as a professional dancer for four seasons before she appeared on the second season of "SYTYCD" with her partner, who died from suicide in 2022.

The 'Dancing With The Stars' Alum Found Love In Dancing Again

Holker stopped sharing videos of herself dancing after Boss's tragic death last year, an act she so lovingly enjoyed indulging in with Boss during his lifetime. They first appeared together on "DWTS" in the 16th season and then danced in seasons 21, 23, and 25.

Holker and Boss were famous for sharing dance videos of themselves on their social alongside their kids, Maddox, Zaia, and Weslie, from Holker's previous relationship. Shortly before Boss's death on December 13, the DJ shared a video of him and Holker digging it and captioned it "HOLIDAY SUNDAY FUNDAY DANCE."

However, The Blast confirmed that Holker resurfaced on the gram in August with an adorable video of herself and her mini-me. The pair danced to a remix of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" and then shared another clip of herself and Brittany Russell dancing to "Bomb Intro / Pass That Dutch" by Missy Elliot on TikTok and Instagram.

Holker accompanied her video with a caption expression how good it felt to dance again after a long hiatus and added, "I was overwhelmed with so many emotions. I was both scared and excited. But dance has always been there for me… even now and I am so grateful for that."

Aside from the 35-year-old return to dancing, she also revealed her plans to release a children's book that she and Boss began working on in 2021 to honor his memory. The book "Keep Dancing Through: A Boss Family Groove" was Holker's lifelong dream that started when she had Weslie.

"Then a couple of years ago, I was like, 'Let's do it!' Let's show who we are and put it in story form…' It's something that I hope really can be seen by people and is our true essence as a family," the mom of three shared.

The book is available for pre-order but will be available in stores on January 16, 2024. Holker also launched a foundation with her children in February called "Move With Kindness" in honor of Boss's memory and to help individuals with mental health issues access needed help and resources.
