Britney Spears ‘Needs To Just Be With Family’ Amid Sam Asghari Divorce

Pop star Britney Spears is looking to reconnect with her family following her divorce from actor Sam Asghari, who filed to end their 14-month marriage on August 16, 2023.
In her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Britney said that she found “peace” when she realized she “never wanted to see” her father Jamie Spears, 71, her mother Lynne Spears, 68, her brother Bryan Spears, 46, or her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, 32. However, it appears that the 42-year-old pop star has changed her tune, especially amid news that her father had his leg amputated following five unsuccessful surgeries.
The "Toxic" singer recently spent time with her mother and brother over the weekend to celebrate her birthday, and it looks like the family is making an effort to reconcile after years of estrangement caused by the singer's court-ordered conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021.
Lynne Spears ‘Takes Full Blame’ For Complicated Relationship With ‘Very Stubborn’ Britney Spears
Earlier this week, sources told People magazine that Britney’s family is trying to make an effort to be back in her life. A source revealed that Britney’s mom is “really making an effort to be in Britney’s life” although they noted that “Britney can be very stubborn” given what she’s been through.
The insider divulged that the “Gimme More” singer “is still hurt because she feels her mom could have done more to help her” get out of the conservatorship. However, they went on to say that Britney “has very few friends and really needs to just be with family.”
“Her mom does love her. There is no doubt about that,” the insider added, noting that Lynne has been “very apologetic to Britney” and “takes full blame” for not helping her daughter get out of the conservatorship sooner.

“Lynne is really making an effort to be in Britney’s life. Britney likes spending time with her,” the source said. "They have a complicated relationship, but it seems they both need each other."
A second source noted that “being together and celebrating her birthday was a really nice moment for the family.”
Jamie Lynn Spears Did Not Attend Britney's Birthday Party
According to TMZ, Britney is looking to make amends with each member of her family. They say that she has been talking to her mother regularly for weeks and is the one who invited Lynne out to Los Angeles to celebrate her birthday. Sources told the outlet that Britney also wanted her little sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, to attend the party, but she wasn’t able to make it, as she was filming a show out of the country.
Fortunately, her older brother Bryan was able to make an appearance at the party. One source told Page Six that Bryan has been “helping” Britney amid her divorce from Sam Asghari. “He’s been staying over and helping her alongside a therapist,” the insider said, calling Bryan’s presence “a great thing for all of” the family.
One source told TMZ that Britney wants to make amends with her family, adding, "Britney wants to make things right with her family. She thinks it's time to start healing." Although the pop star unveiled a lot of family secrets in her memoir in late October, the source said that Britney just wanted to “tell her truth and move on.”
Jamie Spears Had His Leg Amputated Last Month
It still remains to be seen if Britney will be able to have a relationship with her father, Jamie Spears, who controlled her financial and personal affairs during her 13-year conservatorship. Britney did not have a lot of good things to say about her father in her memoir, but it appears that the two might be willing to make amends amid his failing health.
On Tuesday morning, TMZ revealed that Jamie Spears actually had his leg amputated a month ago. In September, he had surgery to battle an infection caused by a knee replacement put in over a decade ago. The infection landed him in the hospital for weeks, and after five unsuccessful surgeries couldn’t clear the infection, doctors decided that the only way to save his life was by amputating his leg.
The source said that Jamie “is not doing well” following the amputation as he continues to struggle with his failing health. Another insider told the outlet that there have been times when Britney misses her father and has even thought about sending him money to help finance his recovery.
