Billie Eilish Wants To Be Left Alone About Her Sexuality After Red Carpet 'Outing'

Billie Eilish is tired of the public's interest in her sexuality, especially when there is more to her than who she is attracted to!

Over the weekend, the "What Was I Made For" singer unleashed her wrath against a particular media outlet after she was queried about her sexual preferences in an interview. The entertainer shared a heated post about her unexpected "outing," imploring reporters to focus on what matters instead of her love life.

On Sunday, the "Bad Guy" hitmaker shared a carousel of images from her time at this year's Variety Hitmakers Brunch in Los Angeles. The event, held a day earlier, captured the media personality rocking a belt designed with the silhouettes of two women on their knees.

However, the suggestive belt buckle was not the post's highlight, with Eilish calling out the event's organizers in her caption for forcing her to come out. During her red carpet appearance, a Variety representative queried the 21-year-old about her sexuality.

The interviewer wanted confirmation about the California native's interest in women, something the "You Should See Me in a Crown" musician had highlighted in her cover story for the magazine's "Power of Women" issue.

Although she peacefully handled the situation on the red carpet, Eilish did not sing the same tune in her Instagram post. The seven-time Grammy stressed that she did not like being cornered into addressing her sexual preferences and wished the media outlet had focused on significant subjects. Begging for her privacy, the songwriter saucily penned:

"Thanks Variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 am instead of talking about anything else that matters. I like boys and girls leave me alone about it, please literally who cares stream 'what was I made for?'"

Eilish's wrath was understandable as the 21-year-old confirmed that she never meant to address her sexuality in her cover story for the magazine. In her red carpet interview, shared by Variety, the "Happier Than Ever" hitmaker expressed disinterest in coming out, saying:

"I kind of thought, 'Wasn't it obvious'? I didn't realize people didn't know. I just don't really believe in it. I'm just like, 'Why can't we just exist'? I've been doing this for a long time, and I just didn't talk about it. Whoops."

"But I saw the article, and I was like, 'Oh, I guess I came out today.' OK cool. It's exciting to me because I guess people didn't know, but it's cool that they know," the Billboard Music Award recipient continued, adding: "I am for the girls."

Following the "Bury a Friend" songstress's post, her followers trooped to the comment section to raise hell against the magazine. Many supported the media personality's perspective, agreeing the outlet had forced her to come out.

"They definitely cornered her, sucks. Celebrities especially feel they owe it to everyone to 'come out,'" a fan claimed. Another echoed similar sentiments, writing: "SOMEONE should make a rule for interviewers not to ask about a celebrity's SEXUALITY."

"LOVE you, Billie. I agree with you 100. I'm queer, but we shouldn't have to announce it on blast to validate ourselves. We should just be. Thanks for speaking about that," a third praised the chart-topper. A fellow Eilish lover called out the media outlet for disregarding her wishes with the comment:

"She's said time and time again that she wants to live a private life, and yall keep putting her s— on blast tryna be 'fans.'"

More commenters slammed the interviewer, with one person claiming they would "Kms if I was the interviewer." Another wrote, "Nah, because they are so out of pocket for asking that. People are too obsessed about that kind of stuff."

Weeks before her red carpet outing, Eilish filed suit against a male stalker who attempted to enter her home. The 21-year-old noted she has suffered "severe and substantial emotional injury," including fearing for her safety and that of her loved ones.

"It is also particularly distressing to me that (he) knows where I maintain a private residence and has visited my residence (and apparently my parents' home as well) attempting to find me," the media personality noted in her lawsuit before describing how the man visited her place around 2:12 a.m. on November 4.
