Bruce Willis' Family 'Ecstatic' As His Breakout Show 'Moonlighting' Hits Streaming Platforms

Hollywood legend Bruce Willis’ breakout TV show "Moonlighting" is now available for streaming, and the Willis family couldn't be happier. In a recent interview, the iconic actor's daughter, Rumer Willis, expressed her joy about the chance to view the award-winning comedy-drama without going through the hassle of searching them out.

Rumer went on to share that the series was a personal favorite of hers amongst her father's numerous films and revealed a seemingly budding semblance she sees in Bruce and her baby daughter, Louetta Isley.

The popular 1980s series, which catapulted Bruce to stardom, has recently been made accessible to a new generation of viewers on Hulu, with the announcement generating a lot of excitement within the Willis family.

In a recent interview with People magazine during the "Love Actually Live" opening night at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, California, the "Death Wish" actor's daughter shared that she's personally "so excited" about the feat while noting that her family is "beyond ecstatic because we used to watch it literally on videotape."

"Moonlighting" originally aired from 1985 to 1989 and featured Bruce as David Addison, a private detective, alongside his co-star Cybill Shepherd as Maddie Hayes, a former model turned investigator. The show was renowned for its blend of comedy, drama, and romance and played a pivotal role in establishing Bruce as a household name.

Rumer went on to reminisce on how the 67-episode series was a part of her younger days as Bruce's daughter and expressed joy at the chance of watching it again without the stress of searching it through YouTube.

"My dad had a closet and all of the episodes were literally filled to the brim on videotape. And so to be able to have time and not have to hunt for it on YouTube and be able to watch it all the time is such a joy," she noted.

Rumer also told People that her father's role in the series has "always been one of my favorite things that he's ever done."

According to the news outlet, the movie won numerous Golden Globes Awards, People's Choice Awards, and Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards during its peak, affording Bruce the chance to win the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category in 1987.

The creator of the iconic television series, Glenn Gordon Caron, recently shared a heartbreaking detail about Bruce's health, disclosing that the Hollywood legend is "not totally verbal" amid his battle with dementia, per the New York Post.

Caron noted that the actor had been eager for people to see the show again on streaming as he revealed he tries his best to remain in Bruce’s life despite his worsening condition.

"The process [to get Moonlighting onto Hulu] has taken quite a while and Bruce's disease is a progressive disease. So I was able to communicate with him, before the disease rendered him as incommunicative as he is now, about hoping to get the show back in front of people," Caron told the news outlet. "I know it means a lot to him."

"I have tried very hard to stay in his life," he continued, adding, "The thing that makes [his disease] so mind-blowing is [that] if you've ever spent time with Bruce Willis, there is no one who had any more joie de vivre than he. He loved life and…just adored waking up every morning and trying to live life to its fullest."

It comes as the actor's health condition reportedly declines at a faster pace than expected. Bruce retired from his illustrious career in 2022 when he was diagnosed with aphasia, which has since worsened to frontotemporal dementia.

According to Radar Online, concerns have heightened as the actor's daughters rally around him, spending as much time as possible to offer support and create lasting memories. One of his daughters, Scout, recently shared a disheartening video where he was seen holding her hand, seemingly confused and absent as they spent Thanksgiving Day together.

Scout also posted a photo of herself from family time, sweetly and gently resting her head on her father's hand. His family reportedly wants to ensure that they keep him as happy and comfortable as possible during Christmas and New Year's Eve, as they are said to have been cooking his favorite dishes, reading stories to him, or just sitting quietly next to him.
