On Friday night, Britney Spears was at the home of her longtime friend and manager, Cade Hudson, to celebrate her birthday with her brother, Bryan Spears, and a few others.
The pop star, set to turn 42 on Saturday, December 2, started off her birthday on a sour note, as she had to leave the birthday party early in order to attend to her dog, who was reportedly suffering a medical emergency.
Britney Spears' Dog Suffers Medical Emergency During Her Birthday Party
On Friday night, Britney Spears was ready to celebrate her birthday with her manager, Cade Hudson, and her brother, Bryan Spears, when her dog suffered a medical emergency.
It is unclear which dog suffered the medical emergency. On August 16, Sam Asgharifiled for divorce from the pop star. Only two weeks later, the two settled the custody agreement between their five dogs. Sam was allowed to keep Porsha, the Doberman puppy he gave her as an engagement gift, while Britney kept four other dogs. A day later, she introduced her Instagram followers to Snow, a little white dog that has made an appearance in many of the pop star's recent photos and videos.
It Is Unclear Which Dog Suffered The Medical Emergency
Around 2 AM on Saturday morning, Britney, Bryan, and Cade were spotted leaving Cade's home in a car together. A photog told TMZ that one of Britney Spear’s dogs was in the car and a group rushed to a 24-hour veterinary clinic. The dog was never photographed, but was believed to have been brought inside the clinic.
The group then proceeded to go to a convenience store gas station located on the Sunset Strip. Cade was photographed leaving the store barefoot in his pajama pants, so it looks like it was a sudden emergency if he didn't even have time to get dressed.
Britney Spears' Dog May Still Be At The Vet
The group then returned to the vet and were there for some time before they left. It is unclear if they took the dog home with them or if the dog is still at the vet.
UPDATE: A source told TMZ that the dog is now fine. The pet was rushed to the vet due to an issue with the dog's paw. No more details are known at this time.
PETA Calls Out Britney Over Purchasing Her New Dog
In late August, the "Oops!... I Did It Again" singer took to Instagram to share a video of her new puppy amid her divorce from actor Sam Asghari.
“Introducing Snow … the new edition to the family … it’s her world and we just live in it 🤦🏼♀️ 🤦🏼♀️ 🤦🏼♀️ !!!” Britney wrote in the caption of an Instagram video posted to her account at the time.
Although many fans loved the pop star's new puppy, not everyone did. People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals - better known as PETA - did not. Instead, they called out the "Girl In The Mirror" singer for purchasing a new furry friend instead of adopting one.
In late August, a rep for PETA released a statement to TMZ, saying, “When influential people buy puppies, puppy mills cheer and animal shelters watch the homeless-animal crisis get even worse. With this one cutesy post, Britney Spears has sentenced countless deserving dogs in shelters to more days without love, a comfy bed to curl up on, or a chance at a real life.”
“She could have been a force for good and adopted, but instead she chose to be toxic, and animals will pay with their lives,” they added, working the name of the pop star’s hit single “Toxic” into their statement.
It is unclear if Snow is the dog that needed medical treatment, but the young puppy has been seen out and about with Britney a lot lately. Last weekend, when she stepped out for dinner with her manager, Cade Hudson, she was spotted carrying her dog along with her.
The dog has also made an appearance in the background of many of her recent Instagram dancing videos. In another recent Instagram post, Britney revealed that she even purchased her new furry friend a Gucci bathing suit for the puppy.
Whichever dog experienced a medical emergency, fans have taken to social media to send thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
