In a tragic turn of events, newly married groom Chaturong Suksuk unleashed a wedding mass shooting, killing his bride, her mother, her sister, and another guest before taking his own life.

The incident, reported by multiple outlets, involved Suksuk leaving his wedding reception intoxicated and returning with a pistol. Investigations revealed that Suksuk legally purchased the gun last year.

The couple had lived together for three years, and police focused on a reported altercation on their wedding day as a motive. Suksuk, a former paramilitary ranger, was a successful para-athlete swimmer slated for the World Abilitysport Games 2023.

Following their traditional morning wedding on Saturday, Suksuk, 29, and his bride, Kanchana Pachunthuek, 44, participated in celebrations. However, as the night unfolded, guests observed the groom's apparent unhappiness.

According to multiple news outlets, the festivities continued, but in a disturbing turn of events, Suksuk, described as "quite intoxicated" by the police, abruptly left, only to return with a pistol.

Tragically, he fatally shot his bride, her mother, and her younger sister. A stray bullet also claimed the life of a 50-year-old guest, Thong Nonkhunthod, and another guest, 28-year-old Bamrung Chatherat, suffered serious injuries.

The devastating incident concluded with Suksuk taking his own life. The wedding mass shooting resulted in the loss of five lives.

Groom Reportedly Had An 'Argument On Private Matters' With His Bride Before Killings

After the shooting, Investigators recovered 11 spent cartridges of 9mm ammunition at the crime scene, and police Colonel Tang-amnuay revealed that Suksuk legally purchased the gun used in the shooting last year.

Before their tragic end, Suksuk and Pachunthuek had lived together for three years, and police investigations now focus on determining the motive behind the shooting, particularly considering a reported altercation between the couple on the wedding day.

According to Matichon Wongbaokul, a police officer from northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima province, the couple "had an argument on private matters and Chaturong walked to his car and picked up a gun before shooting."

Mass Shooter Groom Was A Former Paramilitary Ranger And Para-Athlete Swimmer

Per news outlets, Suksuk was a former paramilitary ranger and ex-marine soldier attached to the Sattahip naval base in Chon Buri. Unfortunately, he became disabled after a tragic incident during his duty, resulting in the loss of one of his legs in a train accident.

Despite the adversity, Suksuk was determined and attained success as a para-athlete swimmer when he represented Thailand in the 11th ASEAN Para Games and clinched a silver medal. He was also slated to participate in the World Abilitysport Games 2023 from December 1-9 in Nakhon Ratchasima.

As reported by BBC last month, another tragic incident unfolded at Siam Paragon, a well-known shopping center in Bangkok, resulting in three fatalities from a mass shooting.

According to national police chief Torsak Sukvimol, several people were injured during the shooting, and among the wounded were individuals from Laos, China, and Thailand, and the other who worked at the mall was Burmese. At the time, shoppers inside Siam Paragon scrambled for safety as shots rang out.

The assailant, whose motives remain unclear, was eventually disarmed and surrendered to officers. The suspect, a teenager with a history of mental health treatment, has been detained at Pathumwan police station, with authorities uncovering that he had ceased medication recently.

The school he attended, The Essence, affirmed his enrollment and pledged cooperation with the police investigation.
