Writer Omid Scobie's new book about the royal family isn't going to get any thanks from them. Per reports, Prince William feels that "Endgame" is filled with a "litany of false and cruel narratives" about the royal family.
It is also understood that he is "exasperated" with dealing with the drama brought on by the work. In the new book, Scobie claims that William actively tried to undermine his brother, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle. The royal author also alleged that the duo were still hurt over the delay in their kid's royal titles.
What Prince William Thinks Of Omid Scobie's New Book
According to US Weekly, William isn't a fan of Scobie's latest book on his family. Scobie's book, titled "Endgame," debuted on Tuesday, days after several excerpts from it swirled online, revealing some bombshells about the royal family.
The Prince of Wales has opted for a strategic silence, refraining from making any public statements about the book's content. This decision is grounded in the belief that "the more he says, the more attention it feeds the whole frenzy."
Despite his decision to remain silent, the senior royal and heir apparent is said to consider the work from the royal author "a spiteful portrayal of the monarchy," filled with a "litany of false and cruel narratives." It was also reported that William is "exasperated and sick of dealing with" the drama caused by the book's content.
Prince William Allegedly Tried To Undermine Prince Harry & Meghan
One of the many claims in the new book that might have rubbed off wrongly on William was that he "prioritized his loyalty to the monarchy" over his brother, Prince Harry, per Daily Mail.
Scobie also alleged in the book that William actively tried to undermine the Sussexes prior to their stepping down from their roles as senior royals in 2020.
The royal author claimed that the Prince of Wales orchestrated this campaign by releasing information about the couple to the media. This, in turn, allegedly fueled the sensationalism surrounding the Sussexes and provided material for the next wave of headlines.
However, a source close to Willaim has denied that he ever had any deals with the media, saying that he "has always been very tight-lipped when it comes to his family."
An alternate source stated that the claims made by Scobie were "totally fabricated," adding that he was peddling "conspiracy theories dressed up as fact."
Harry & Meghan 'Still Hurt' About The Delay In Their Kids' Royal Titles
Scobie's new book also unveiled a bombshell about the Sussexes, claiming that they are "still hurt" and that there was a delay in conferring royal titles upon their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The author reportedly wrote that the couple felt that their kids should have gotten their royal designations immediately after King Charles' ascension, as this was the usual convention.
However, this didn't happen within the first month of King Charles' reign. It eventually took about six months, despite King Charles supposedly telling Prince Harry that the changes would be made early in 2023.
This delay reportedly made the Sussexes feel upset and led them to believe that their kids were being treated differently compared to their cousins—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, who are the children of Prince William and Kate. Scobie also mentioned that Harry and Meghan found it difficult to be okay with this difference in treatment.
Omid Scobie Says Harry & Meghan Were Not His Source
Regarding the sources of information included in his book, Scobie stated that he didn't directly interview Meghan for his new book. Instead, he mentioned that the "mutual friends" he shared with the Duchess were his source, adding that he was not friends with her.
Scobie also debunked claims that he was the secret mouthpiece of the Sussexes, particularly Meghan, contrary to speculations that had swirled prior to the release of his book.
He also stated that the "twisting of facts and misquoting" has "reached new levels of desperation" and that he plans to set the record straight during interviews to publicize his book.
In the meantime, the monarchy has yet to put out an official statement with regard to the book and seems to be taking the high road.
