Sofia Vergara has been sued for allegedly skipping out on money owed for some home improvements.

In new court papers obtained by The Blast, the "Modern Family" superstar has been accused of failing to pay a contractor over $1.7 million for an extensive renovation of her Beverly Hills home.

Vergara's $26 million mega-mansion is situated in Beverly Park, an exclusive guard-gated community perched high in the mountains above Beverly Hills.

Sofia Vergara Slammed With A Lawsuit Over Unpaid Home Improvement Bills

According to the documents, Vergara enlisted the services of Reside Custom Homes [RCH] in April 2022 for construction work on her property and agreed to compensate for the work and the contractor's fee.

However, the "America's Got Talent" judge neglected to follow through on the agreement once the construction was completed.

RCH claims that even though the project was essentially finished by December 2022, the Colombian-American actress purportedly requested substantial additional work beyond the initially agreed-upon scope.

This resulted in an extension of the project until March 2023, when the mother of one eventually moved back into the lavish residence.

The construction company asserts that Vergara requested additional work, including installing clay plaster in three powder rooms, an office, the cabana bathroom, the dining room walls, and the guest house living room.

Additionally, she reportedly asked the company to remove and replace a flight of stairs, all of which they claim to have covered the costs.

The contractor further claims that the 51-year-old made assurances to settle the bill, allegedly mentioning she had approved an invoice amounting to nearly $900,000 and had "already" instructed her money manager to make the payment.

Unfortunately, RCH contends that Vergara failed to fulfill her commitments, leaving the company with an outstanding balance of $1,700,492.64.

Another time the "Escape from Planet Earth" star's home was in the news, she showcased her expansive garden in a video of her chasing her pet dog, Petunia, as the canine pursued her niece, Claudia.

In the delightful footage, Claudia was seen darting across the well-maintained lawn, interrupted by stepping stones guiding the way to an outdoor swimming pool. The actress' canine companion followed suit and during the pursuit gave fans a view of several vacant white loungers by the water.

On the opposite side, viewers saw the poolside cabana featuring pillars around the entrance, which was reminiscent of the luxurious ambiance found in high-end hotels. As Hello! Magazine detailed, Vergara and her now-estranged husband, Joe Manganiello, purchased the 17,000-square-foot home in 2020.

In addition to the large living space within the main house, the mansion includes a guesthouse, a sports court, two motor courts accommodating four cars, and almost two acres of land. The landscape also has emerald green lawns, a lengthy allee of olive trees, and pathways adorned with stone fountains.

Four months after she and Manganiello announced their separation, The Blast reviewed legal documents showing that Vergara had filed a declaration of disclosure indicating that she had provided all her financial details to her ex.

According to her legal team, they transmitted the financial information via email on November 8, 2023, meaning that the subsequent filing is anticipated to be related to the settlement.

Notably, and in many celebrity cases, this step precedes a settlement, marking the final filing before the parties conclude the divorce proceedings. Prior to this, the Toty founder had shared insights into the marital decline, acknowledging that it played a part in what she described as an "interesting and very difficult" year.

"I've had a very interesting year. I don't want to say 'bad' or anything like that, but it's been very interesting and very difficult. I went through a divorce this year, the SAG strike that went on for so long, I've seen my friends struggle — some had to take their kids out of their schools or had problems with their mortgages, so it's been a weird, weird year," Vergara disclosed.

Despite the challenges, the Sofía Jeans boss opted to remain optimistic, stating, "It's not like it's bad, I think all the things are resolving, everything is going to be okay and I'm very excited for next year."
