Actress Jamie Lynn Spears thinks that Britney Spears is worried about her competing on the British reality series "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!"
The "Sweet Magnolias" actress has lasted longer on the British reality show than she did on season 1 of the Fox reality show "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test" last year. However, she believes her sister is worried about her and has been checking in on her performance.
Jamie Lynn Spears Thinks Britney Spears Is Watching Her Compete On 'I'm A Celebrity'
Although it's doubtful that the "Oops!... I Did It Again" singer would actually compete on "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!" - or any reality show for that matter - Jamie Lynn Spears thinks that her sister has been watching the show to see how she performs.
During the latest episode of the British reality show, the 32-year-old actress told Radio DJ Sam Thompson that Britney, 41, would “be worried” about her competing in the Australian outback.
"I think she’s probably checking in on me heavily," Jamie Lynn said. "I do think she’s probably like, ‘Why would she do that?’ She asked me that before I came here, she was like, ‘You’re really going to do it?’ I was like, ‘I’m going to go to Australia and check it out.’ "
"She’d probably be like, ‘Ya’ll get her the f--- out of there, right now!’ " she joked. Jamie Lynn also emphasized that Britney is a “good big sister,” adding, "I love her. Me and her throw down. The world’s seen that. I’ve learned to stop talking about it publicly, but you know what, family’s fight. Listen, we just do it better than most.”
Sam, 31, agreed, adding, “Everyone’s got stuff they argue about all the time.” Jamie Lynn agreed, reminding him, “Me and her both have had a very complicated upbringing.”
“We’ve had very complicated circumstances and we both had to deal with them in different ways. Sometimes we took it out on each other when perhaps we shouldn’t have," she continued. "I’ve been the one person in her life — and she can say this — I’ve never taken anything from her, you know? I’ve been the one person in her life who’s always said, ‘I just want to be your sister.' "
“We just had a really weird life so we can’t explain it to many people, but at the end of the road I know that that’s my family, I love them,” she added.
Jamie Lynn Recalls Looking Up To Britney From A Young Age
While talking to TV presenter Fred Sirieix on an earlier episode of “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”, Jamie Lynn talked about looking up to her sister from a young age. "Anything my sister did I always thought was the best," she said. "When it came to my sister, even if I felt anything if anyone said anything I was ready to go. I was like, ‘Don’t talk about my sister, she’s the best.’”
She even broke her silence on Britney’s infamous kiss with Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. “They just did it. I was at home watching like, ‘Oh OK, this will be fun tomorrow at school, can’t wait,” Jamie Lynn recalled.
In Britney’s memoir, “The Woman In Me,” the Princess of Pop opened up on the incident with the Queen of Pop. “We decided to perform together at the VMAs. Every time we rehearsed it, we did an air kiss,” she wrote. “About two minutes before the performance, I was sitting on the side of the stage and thinking about my biggest performance to date at the VMAs, when I’d pulled off a suit to reveal a sparkling outfit.”
“I thought to myself, ‘I want a moment like that again this year. With the kiss, should I just go for it?’” Britney wrote, later adding, “A lot was made of that kiss. Oprah asked Madonna about it. The kiss was treated as a huge cultural moment – ‘Britney kissing Madonna!’ – and it got us both a lot of attention.”
It looks like it was a good thing that the kiss happened, as Britney said it later led to their successful "Me Against The Music" collaboration.
Britney Spears' memoir "The Woman In Me" was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
