Information from an anonymous source not authorized to discuss the attack publicly has disclosed that Chauvin was seriously injured by another inmate at the federal prison which has faced security issues and staffing shortages.

Although they refrained from identifying the inmate, the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that an inmate at the Tucson prison was stabbed and reported that neither other inmates nor prison staff sustained injuries.

They detailed in a statement that responding employees contained the incident, administered "life-saving measures," and transported the yet-to-be-revealed inmate to a hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

Reacting to the news, one person took to X to post a screenshot of the headline, writing above it, "Thanks to the Supreme Court who wouldn't review his case. Derek Chauvin is a political prisoner who just got stabbed in prison. He didn't deserve all of this."

"I saw that Derek Chauvin got stabbed to death in prison. The guy was innocent and the Supreme Court failed an American citizen. George Floyd was a drug-addicted thug that died from an overdose. This guy they convicted was innocent as heck. Sad day in America," another supporter claimed

Amid a few people correcting the online citizen that Chauvin was only stabbed, a third X user expressed, "We're very sorry to hear about Derek Chauvin's current troubles. We offer our thoughts and prayers for the entire Chauvin family during this difficult period. Now is not the right time to have a policy debate, so let's not politicize the issue."

Similarly, a fourth advocate declared, "Derek Chauvin should really be pardoned. He was never given a fair trial. There was not a single unbiased juror in the entire country to hear his side of the story. If he makes it through this stabbing, he deserves to tell his side of the story."

Meanwhile, this person opted to see things differently, typing, "So they stabbed Derek Chauvin on Black Friday? D—, you can't tell me black people ain't funny.." At this same time, a second Internet personality, joked, "So, word on the streets… Derek Chauvin got stabbed on Black Friday. Y'all be safe outside on dem streets on Cyber Monday."

The City Compensated George Floyd's Family For His Death

The prison disturbance comes two years after The Blast reported that Floyd's family won its lawsuit against the city and the four officers involved in his death, highlighting problems with police policies and training, particularly concerning neck restraints.

The 46-year-old lost his life when Chauvin knelt on his neck for approximately nine minutes, restricting the oxygen to his brain. Throughout the brutal incident, Floyd repeatedly pleaded, "I can't breathe," and called out for his mother.

The city of Minneapolis agreed on Friday, March 12 to pay $27 million to settle the federal civil lawsuit from the late African-American man's family over his death in police custody.

The record settlement, announced by the Minneapolis City Council, also included $500,000 for the neighborhood where Floyd was arrested. It is worth noting that the Floyd family attorney, Ben Crump, scheduled a news conference at 1 p.m., which was to include family members. He said:

"The city needs to exhibit responsible leadership in the face of the horrific tragedy that really was a watershed moment for America."

The Floyd family had alleged in their lawsuit that the four officers involved in their loved one's death violated his rights when they restrained him and that the city allowed a culture of excessive force, racism, and impunity to flourish in its police force.
