Keke Palmer Bags New Hosting Gig Amid Abuse Allegation

Keke Palmer's upcoming gig with BET couldn't have come at a better time amid the drama with ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson!

The problems between the multihyphenate star and her former beau made waves months earlier when the fitness instructor called out his then-girlfriend's outfit to an Usher concert. However, their relationship issues were more profound than fans expected with recent domestic violence allegations.

The "Akeelah and the Bee" star accused her ex of physical and emotional abuse, a claim the TV personality's mother backed. While many would avoid the spotlight after unveiling such harrowing truths, the sensational entertainer is not letting the ordeal stop her from growing her successful career.

The phrase, "The truth will set you free," comes to mind in the Daytime Emmy Award nominee's latest social media appearance as the mother of one looks better than ever after dropping her bombshell allegations. The 30-year-old flaunted a sexy look in the promotional video of her collaboration with BET.

The Instagram video shared on the Black entertainment media giant's Instagram page captured the "Madea's Family Reunion" actress in a sleeveless red corset top with a bust-appealing design. Palmer gave off a glamorous glow with bold makeup, complimenting her looks with luscious wavy hair that cascaded down her shoulders.

She accessorized with eye-catching jewelry of black and silver hues consisting of graceful drop earrings and multiple chunky rings. She accentuated her elegant look with matching black-and-silver nails and completed the classy demeanor with a sassy monologue. The "True Jackson, VP" star chimed:

"Hey! Keke Palmer here, and I have an announcement that I can't hold anymore. BET asked your girl to host this year's Soul Train Awards, and you know it's about to be lit. Grown, sexy, real cute, or whatever, unlike any other because I'm doing it my way."

According to Palmer, the upcoming event will give fans a rare view of her home, which serves as this year's hosting venue. “I'm doing it from my fabulous big old house in the Hollywood Hills. So while the guest list is exclusive, I'm letting the cameras in so you can help me celebrate the most soulful party of the year,” the Primetime Emmy Award explained.

“Get your Keke-tities ready and turn up with me on Sunday, November 26 at 8 pm Eastern, 7 pm Central on BET. Period!” The TV personality concluded, flashing the camera a pearly white smile that showed zero hints of worries over an alleged abusive ex-boyfriend.  

Palmer's Soul Train Awards gig came at a pivotal point in her life, like her last hosting event. In December 2022, the “Scream Queens” actress surprised fans with her pregnancy while serving as a guest host on the satire show “Saturday Night Live.”

During her opening monologue on the sketch comedy series, the entertainer addressed and confirmed the then-viral pregnancy rumors. She said, “There’s some rumors going around. People have been in my comments saying, ‘Keke’s having a baby, Keke’s pregnant,’ and I want to set the record straight — I am.” Then Palmer opened her blazer to reveal her burgeoning baby bump.

The conception marked the "Joyful Noise" star's first child with Jackson, a blessing she wanted to keep private. “I was trying so hard to keep it on the down low because I got a lot of stuff going on,” the TV host confessed, noting that people kept congratulating her about her pregnancy despite not confirming the news.

Weeks before becoming this year's Soul Train Awards’ host, the “Masters of Sex” actress unveiled her ex-boyfriend's wrongdoings by filing a domestic violence restraining order against him. In her legal documents, the 30-year-old accused her former beau of physically assaulting her.

Recounting the horrid tale, Palmer explained: “Darius trespassed into my home without my knowledge or consent, threatened me, then physically attacked me – lunging for my neck, striking me, throwing me over the couch, and stealing my phone when I told him I was going to call the police.”

Fortunately, the mother of one could call the police for help. But, they arrived after Jackson had committed the crime and implored the TV personality to file for a domestic violence restraining order. The fitness instructor's abuse was caught on the “Shrink” star's home surveillance video, which she submitted to the court.

This was not Jackson's first abuse, as Palmer revealed he had attacked her on other occasions. The entertainer's ex-boyfriend's crimes included destruction of personal property, emotional abuse, harassment, and threats of self-harm if the multihyphenate pulled the plug on their relationship.
