The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, were noticeably uninvited to King Charles III's 75th birthday festivities.
A Royal expert and author spoke about the birthday snub and said it reflects the relationship between the couple and the Royal Family. He attributed the damaged family relationship to Harry's 2023 memoir "Spare."
The memoir includes details of Harry's royal life, particularly attacking his stepmother, Queen Camilla. Despite the snub, the birthday celebrations continue this week with a private gathering of just family and friends at Clarence House.
King Charles Snubbed Harry And Meghan From His Party
Christopher Andersen, a royal expert and author of "The King," spoke to Fox News Digital about the birthday snub. He shared that he wasn't surprised by the lack of invitation and gave reason for the shocking move by King Charles.
Andersen said, "The fact that Harry and Meghan weren't even invited to the king's milestone 75th birthday really speaks volumes about just how irreconcilable the Sussexes and the Windsors are."
Andersen also noted that the relationship between the couple and the royal family is beyond strained. He added, "You can only burn bridges so many times. The bottom line is that the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family will continue to have nothing to do with each other for the foreseeable future, full stop."
Harry 'Committed The One Unforgivable Sin'
Amid reports about them being snubbed from the birthday festivities, a spokesperson for the couple addressed the rumors. The rep noted that Harry won't be "making the trip from California" because there was "no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty's upcoming birthday" from the royal family.
Andersen further attributed the damaged relationship in the royal family to Harry's controversial memoir "Spare."
The author especially noted Harry's writings on his stepmother, Queen Camilla. He said, "My feeling is that Charles can so easily turn his back on Harry because Harry committed the one unforgivable sin: Harry dissed Camilla in his book, 'Spare,' branding her a 'villain.'"
Andersen explained that there wouldn't have been any problem if Harry only focused on Prince William and other members of the royal family. He said that King Charles is "wildly and blindly devoted to Queen Camilla" and known for angering easily and holding grudges.
Harry's Memoir Attacked Several Royals Directly
Harry's memoir "Spare" was released in bookshops in January this year and revealed several intimate details of his life as a senior royal before 2020. In the book, he accused Camilla of leaking multiple private conversations to gain favor with the press and improve her reputation.
Camilla has notably made significant efforts to repair her image with the British press and people after her scandalous affair with Charles. Many blamed her for the breakdown of Charles' marriage to Harry and William's mother, the late Princess Diana.
Harry wrote, "That made her dangerous because of the connections that she was forging with the British press."
The Duke of Sussex later told CBS, "There was open willingness on both sides to trade information. And with a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to becoming queen consort, there was going to be people or bodies left in the street."
He also claimed in the memoir that he and William severally "begged" Charles not to marry Camilla, to no end.
The King's Birthday Celebrations Continues This Week
King Charles' birthday celebrations continue this week. Royal expert Hilary Fordwich revealed to Fox News Digital that the Royal family planned a calm birthday celebration. She claimed that the "low-key celebration" was the King's request after the heavy festivities for his recent coronation.
Fordwich said, "He'll be spending his special day just with friends and family at his London home where he's lived with Queen Camilla for two decades, Clarence House."
Royal author Andersen also spoke about the intimate birthday celebration and said it's restricted to the King's "close friends and family."
He added, "This is the real birthday bash, usually attended by scores of well-heeled guests, including lots of folks with titles as well as a smattering of celebrities and deep-pocketed contributors to Charles's favorite charities."
The birthday festivities already began on Monday with a private tea dance with other 75-year-olds at the King's Highgrove estate.
