Xóchitl Gómez's Painful Injury During 'DWTS' Rehearsal Leaves Fans Cringing

Marvel star Xóchitl Gómez suffered a painful ankle sprain during 'Dancing With the Stars' rehearsals, and the incident was caught on camera.
The 17-year-old has been a front-runner on the ABC reality competition show, as she and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, have been towards the top of the leaderboard nearly every week.
Unfortunately, during rehearsals for tonight's show, Gómez was performing a trick when she landed on her ankle wrong, completely twisting it and falling down on it in an awkward way.

The 17-year-old 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' actress was practicing for her upcoming routine alongside partner Val Chmerkovskiy.
She was seen doing a jump and when she landed, she rolled her ankle, falling on it in an awkward way.
"This shiiii is BANANAS! ??? im good tho! A lil sprain but WE WORKIN!," she captioned the video of her injury.

In the TikTok video below, you can see the moment Gómez goes down as she lands on her ankle the wrong way, completely twisting it backward.
Chmerkovskiy also reposted Gómez's video to his Instagram Story, writing, "Cause things were going really well," alongside a crying emoji.

Luckily, it seems she will still perform, although she will be competing with a sprained ankle. She followed up in the comments section writing, "I’m good!! I will be there tomorrow and we ballin! ?." Fans hope this won't affect her dance as she is a front-runner on this season.
Prior to the injury, Chmerkovskiy spoke out on how it is working with Gómez. "I'm really proud of her. For a young age, she's really persistent and focused and yeah she works hard," he said of the Marvel actress. "She gets hurt. She keeps going."
Xóchitl Gómez Speaks On Her Dance Background
Thanks to her dance background, Gómez has a slight advantage going into the ABC competition show.
“My early dance experience was doing children’s musicals from age 5-12,” she told Parade recently. “I did the ensemble group numbers for the musicals I was in. Honestly, I wasn’t a standout. They usually put me in the back! Then I joined TikTok when COVID kicked in and that’s when I started teaching myself trending dances by watching them on repeat. Learning TikTok dances put me in a happy place while we were locked down and I’m so grateful for it.”
