Chrissy Teigen’s Cookware Under Fire After Glass Lid EXPLODES

Fans are calling out Chrissy Teigen online after a glass lid from her cookware collection exploded, sending glass shards flying across the kitchen!

The Cravings by Chrissy Teigen brand has released several pots and pans ranging in price from $48 USD for a bake-anything sheet pan set to $198 for “Chrissy’s Fave Stainless Steel Set.” However, one Facebook post has devoted users questioning the quality!

On October 27, the popular Soup Recipes Facebook group, which has over 55,000 followers, took to Facebook to share the story of how their glass lid exploded. They explained that they were simmering tortellini soup on the lowest possible heat setting when the glass lid on their soup pan exploded. Shards of glass were sent all over the kitchen and into the soup, but fortunately, it seemed as though no one was injured.

They noted that the pan was from the Chrissy Teigen cookware line that they had bought at Target four years ago and warned users to “be careful out there.” The post got over 110,000 reactions, 20,000 comments, and was shared over 21,000 times as fans thanked the user for sharing their story.

Many fans peppered the comments section with words of “Thanks for sharing.” One user noted, “I’ve had old pots and pants and haven’t had that happen! Glad you are okay.”

“Thanks for sharing. My pants are about 2 years old,” wrote another user who seemingly has the same Chrissy Teigen set. “Definitely will watch out for a different set,” they added.

“I had a lid do this on a large skillet while I was cooking asparagus. Just pop and gone,” another user ventured, although they didn’t share the brand.

One user revealed that they have the same pan. “Oh my! I have one of those! I’ve had mine for two years,” one user wrote. Another netizen replied, “Toss it! Please don’t donate it.”

“Okay, I surely will, right now. That scared me. Thank God it didn’t burst in your face or someone else’s,” another user replied. “Why not just toss the lid?” another netizen asked, prompting the user to reply, “I kept my pot.”

Other users asked about experiences with other brands. “I’m so grateful you all were safe from being stuck by the shard glass! I am so nervous now. I have Calphalon glass tops- big soup pots lids and their biggest fry pan tops, etc.. Has this ever happened to anyone who owns Calphalon?” another user asked.

“This happened to one of my pots recently! Pretty sure it was the Cook Tools brand. We got from our wedding 16 years ago,” another netizen chimed in.

“I'm glad everyone is safe. I haven't had this happen. By any chance was your pot and lid cold? I only ask because I've heard of this happening with a cold pot and lid at the start of reheating,” another user offered.

According to 9News, Chrissy Teigen isn’t the only celebrity to have their pot lid explode. One woman was hospitalized after a glass lid on her Wolfgang Puck Stainless Steel pot exploded, sending glass shards into her hand. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only incident. She said that, on another day, the dishes were drying in another room when she heard an explosion, leaving “glass everywhere.”

"I heard literally what sounded like an explosion. I came into the kitchen and there was glass everywhere," said the hurt customer, noting that she asked the company to pay for her medical bills and reimburse her the cost of the cookware. She did not get a refund after she refused to sign a release form absolving the company of any responsibility for the incident.

In a statement, both Wolfgang Puck and the manufacturer put the blame on consumer error. "In many cases, the broken glass lids are due to either consumers dropping the lids or misuse," said Wolfgang Puck. However, there are many reviews online warning users about the dangers of exploding lids.

Chrissy Teigen has yet to comment on the potential dangers of her own cookware line.
