The bizarre nature of Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky's relationship continues as the pair remain separated without any immediate plans for a divorce.
Although Richards recently described the estranged spouses' split as a "straight-up divorce," the socialite and her former beau are yet to make the necessary arrangements to finalize the end of their marriage. If or when they choose to cross this bridge, the pair's fortunes are at stake as they reportedly do not have a prenuptial agreement.
Inside Kyle Richards & Mauricio Umansky's Prenup Arrangement
News of Richards and Umansky's separation started in July, announcing the end of the pair's 27-year marriage. While typical celebrity unions resulted in immediate divorce proceedings, the dynamic duo surprised fans by staying separated without moving to dissolve their marital bonds.
The entertainers' refusal to finalize the end of their vows might have more to do with their lack of a prenup than a possible reconciliation. As stated, Richards appeared uninterested in reuniting with Umansky by recently referring to their estrangement as a "straight-up divorce."
Multiple sources echoed similar sentiments about the former couple's split, noting that the duo are yet to get lawyers on their case. Despite the pair's lack of an official divorce filing, these insiders claimed the intent to end their marriage is present. If they follow this route, a battle for their assets may occur, given their lack of a prenup.
Richards has earned millions of dollars thanks to her reality TV career on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." In Umansky's case, the Mexican heartthrob has acquired a net worth of $100M with nearly $5B in real estate sales, per TMZ. However, the 53-year-old did not achieve his wealth before marrying his now-estranged wife.
When Umansky tied the knot to the "Halloween Kills" actress, he earned meager bills in the fashion industry before entering the real estate business. He worked for Richards' father, Rick Hilton, before opening The Agency in 2011.
The lovebirds are reportedly "playing friendly" since their separation announcement; however, Richards appeared to be emotionally distressed by the split. The reality TV star cried when addressing her relationship with Umansky this past weekend at BravoCon.
On the other hand, the "Dancing With The Stars" contestant seems to be handling the separation in good spirits. The real estate mogul has been spotted enjoying cozy outings with his dance partner, Emma Slater.
Kyle Revealed She Initiated Separation From Mauricio Umansky
Days earlier, the "Halloween Ends" actress opened up about her separation from Umansky while appearing on "Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen." In the October episode, the 54-year-old was asked who plugged the trigger on the duo's 27-year marriage.
Cohen wondered if "the divorce was a mutual decision or one of you was the driving force behind the separation." The mother of four replied, "It originated from me."
Then, the host implored the California native to share how the estranged spouses' loved ones had reacted to the split. In response, Kyle Richards confessed, "When the news first came out, it was really, really devastating."
The socialite explained that her kids cried over the separation, and their phones had blown off with several calls, but things have calmed down, and they were back to being a happy family again. Regarding the details of her separation from Umansky, the entertainer stated that the pair lived together but in separate bedrooms.
"I let him stay in the primary bedroom 'cause it's very masculine, and the upstairs floor's like the glam, and there's, like, a bed. And I was like, 'What am I going to do? Put him in a room with flowers and pink and velvet? No," the reality TV star explained.
As for the rumors about her relationship with Morgan Wade, the "Little House on the Prairie" star denied the romance speculations, saying the pair were friends. She described the country music singer as "absolutely one of my best, best friends in the world." The TV personality further squashed the rumors by saying:
"If she didn’t have all those tattoos, people would not say that. I mean, I’m with my friends all the time, they don’t pay attention."
While Richards was shrouded in relationship rumors, her estranged husband gave fans hope about a possible reconciliation. Earlier in October, the Mexican sensation expressed his desire to sort out his differences with the socialite and salvage their marriage.
"We've been married for 27 years, 26 amazing years. Kyle is my best friend, she's an amazing human, I love her… And marriages go through difficult times, sometimes, and that's what we're dealing with right now," Umansky said before adding, "We'll let our fans know when we know what our life is gonna be like, but in the meantime, we're fighting [for our marriage]."
