Matthew Perry, who passed away last weekend, recently spoke out on how much it meant to him to have the very last line in “Friends”.

Prior to filming the final episode, Perry pulled Marta Kuffman aside to ask a very special favor. “No one else will care about this except me,” he told the producer of the show. “So may I please have the last line?”

Perry’s wish was granted as in the last episode of the show, the group of friends gathers in Monica (Courteney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry)’s apartment as they get ready to move out and begin their lives with their newly adopted kids. As they get ready to close the door for the very last time, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) suggests they grab a cup of coffee together.

“I got to bring the curtain down on ‘Friends’,” Perry said in a recent interview, referring to his perfect timing of the last line of the show — “Where?”

For those who have never seen the show, the group of friends always grab coffee at a local shop called Central Perk, so when Chandler asked, “Where?”, it was the perfect way to end the long-running series.

As we reported over the weekend, police responded to a 911 call to assist with a possible ‘water rescue’ at Matthew Perry’s Pacific Palisades home. When the first responders arrived, they reportedly found the 54-year-old “Friends” actor in his hot tub, unresponsive.

He is believed to have drowned, but an autopsy and toxicology reports will be able to answer more questions about his true cause of death. Prescription anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications were reportedly found in Matthew Perry‘s home following his tragic death, although sources say that no illegal narcotics were discovered at the scene.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” their statement reads. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

The cast continued by stating, “In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

None of the cast has yet to release a follow-up statement.
