Matthew Perry's last days continue to unveil the actor's positive state of mind and active plans to roll out new projects.
The beloved "Friends" star was gearing up for his highly anticipated return to the big screen with a biopic about his inspiring journey to sobriety. During his life, the NBC sitcom star was vocal about his addictions and sought to help others in similar situations.
The entertainer wished to share his story with the world and had begun preparations for the creative masterpiece as shared by Athenna Crosby, one of the last people to interact with the actor before his death. The model recently revealed the Williamstown native's career plans and his excitement for a future he unfortunately never saw.
Matthew Perry's Pal Says He Was 'Absolutely Looking Forward To Life'
Crosby gained new attention following news of her relationship with the Hollywood veteran. The beauty pageant competitor was photographed having lunch with the 54-year-old a day before he was discovered unresponsive in his jacuzzi.
Days after the "17 Again" star passed away on October 28, the model opened up about their last moments together and shared the TV personality's enthusiasm for his return to the movie industry. According to Crosby, the older entertainer had several plans for his future, including a biopic.
The model explained that Perry wished to leave a record of his successful sobriety journey and had chosen the perfect actor to play his younger self. Crosby stressed that the "Mr. Sunshine" star had been "absolutely looking forward to life," adding:
"He said that he wanted to make a movie about his life. And he had worked with Zac Efron in the past on a movie, and he said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version [of himself] and that he was gonna ask him soon to do that."
"He was just looking forward to sharing more about his story and his recovery from addiction," the 25-year-old continued and then added, "And really championing that cause to help more people, so he was so optimistic and happy about everything that he wanted to do."
Regarding Perry's choice of Efron as the star of his biopic, the duo previously made waves as co-stars of the 2009 movie "17 Again." In the comedy, the Disney alum portrayed the protagonist's 17-year-old self while the late actor served as the present-day 37-year-old character.
The biopic was among the last discussions Crosby had with the deceased. As stated, the model and the actor turned heads after they were photographed having lunch at Hotel Bel-Air at around 2:30 p.m. on October 27. Sources claimed the pair spent over an hour sitting at the same table; however, their conversations were not romantic.
After fans discovered her last date with Perry, the media personality broke her silence on their relationship. The model told ET that she met the Champion of Recovery Award recipient through a mutual friend and maintained a close but platonic bond with the late actor.

The buzz surrounding Crosby's relationship with Perry forced the Miss Teen USA 2016 pageant winner to address the matter on her Instagram Stories. The 25-year-old confirmed she had gone on a lunch date with the Williamstown native before his death while noting she never wished to expose his private matters.
"Once again, I never intended to say anything, but since I have been identified, yes, that is me with him this past Friday," the model penned. Crosby revealed the 54-year-old had been in “extremely good spirits” during their outing and talked to her "enthusiastically about the things that he had coming up in his life."
The younger entertainer implored the public to refrain from sharing unsolicited opinions about Perry's death, stressing that the late actor was happy and vibrant in his last days. “The man[Perry] was on a comeback and truly deserved more time on this earth,” the beauty pageant competitor lamented.
In another post, Crosby shared a picture of the Golden Globe Award nominee and an emotional caption, writing: “I wasn’t going to speak about this, but what I will say is I had the honor of knowing Matthew personally.”
“I am so devastated from his death but felt it was in poor taste to talk about it publicly as the attention should not be on me but rather on him and his legacy,” the deceased's pal concluded her poignant tribute.
