The actor's father, John, arrived at the scene first, looking solemn in the photos captured. Shortly after, he was joined by his ex-wife, Suzanne, and Matthew's stepdad, Morrison, who all looked shocked and downcast by the news of his death.

There were several other cars at the home of the star, including a coroner's vehicle, as his loved ones and friends tried to rationalize the sudden passing of the talented actor.

Matthew's parents separated when he was one year old, and his mother, Suzanne, raised him in Canada, although he was born in Massachusetts.

Due to his parents' divorce, Matthew's relationship with his dad was strained by the long distance between them.

In a 2004 interview with NBC, Perry noted that he never blamed himself for the divorce and that although he barely got to spend time with his father, he still idolized him.

He said, "That was mostly the way that I saw my father when I was young -- on TV shows, and you know, getting shot through a door on Mannix, or something like that. That's my Dad."

Matthew's mother, Suzanne, married Keith Morrison, a correspondent for NBC's "Dateline," years after her separation from John.

The "Fools Rush In" actor had a good relationship with Morrison, who once described Matthew as "an intense, talented, focused character" and "very bright."

During a chat with Diane Sawyer, while promoting his memoir, Matthew opened up about how Aniston confronted him about his addiction struggles.

The actor revealed that while they were on the set of “Friends” on a particular day, the "We Are The Millers" star had walked up to him and said, “We know that you’re drinking,” implying that she and his other co-stars were aware of his alcoholism at the time.

Matthew described the confrontation with the actress as “scary,” but he did not explain why he felt that way.

After the brief moment, Aniston continued to reach out to Matthew amid his addiction struggle, and according to the actor, this made him feel indebted to her.

He told Sawyer in a clip, “She was the one that reached out the most. You know, I’m really grateful to her for that.”
