Court Warns Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Their Divorce Might Be Dismissed

Sam Asghari filed for divorce from Britney Spears after only fourteen months of marriage but it appears that it might not happen after all.

The two met on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016 and became engaged in September 2021, only a few months before her 13-year conservatorship was struck down by a judge in November 2021. The two tied the knot in June 2022 at a star-studded wedding in her Thousand Oaks estate, but their marriage was hit with reports of trouble almost immediately.

The two were photographed without wearing their wedding rings in March, and in May, a documentary released on Hulu alleged that the two were prone to screaming matches and fights that could turn "physical." On August 16, the Iranian actor filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." He listed the date of their separation as July 28, 2023, and requested both spousal support and attorney fees.

According to new documents, obtained by The Blast, the court is warning the famous ex-couple it is going to dismiss the divorce altogether.

On October 27, the court ordered both Britney Spears and Sam Asghari to actually get divorced or warned that it would be dismissed. At this point, Britney hasn't yet responded to the case and Sam hasn't shown he's served the Princess of Pop with the divorce.

This is incredibly rare to see and happens in some cases where there is hope for the couple to reconcile.

Fans have been hoping that the two would reconcile in the comments of Sam's recent Instagram posts, while Britney has left hers disabled amid the release of her memoir, "The Woman In Me."

Since the memoir was written before the divorce, the “Girl In The Mirror” singer had nothing but positive things to say about the actor. “I have an appreciation for how stable he is. I love that he doesn’t even drink,” she wrote, recalling how she was “instantly smitten” with him from the moment they met. “I knew I wanted him in my life immediately,” she added. “The chemistry with us in the beginning was insane. We couldn’t keep our hands off each other.”

On Wednesday afternoon, the 29-year-old actor was asked by paparazzi how he felt about his ex’s new book. “I’m freakin’ proud of her, and I hope she takes over the world,” he said, as per Page Six. When asked about the part where she called him a “gift from God,” Sam added, “That made me smile, to be honest.”

A May 2023 TV special called “Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom” made many allegations about the pop star, but one of the most harrowing ones involved her soon-to-be ex-husband.

“We’re told Britney has gotten physical with Sam and screaming matches have been frequent. We’re also told things have gotten so volatile security has had to step in. Our sources say Sam doesn’t stay at their home much anymore and it’s especially alarming because of how she has come to rely on him.”

Hours before news of their divorce broke, a source said Sam had accused Britney of cheating on him. A source later told ET that the pop star is “adamant she didn’t cheat,” adding, “The two haven’t gotten along for a while and it finally came to an end after a major blowup.”

“She has been denying any cheating allegations and going through a lot of emotions,” the source told the outlet. “She is hurt because the situation brings up old feelings for her.”

Unfortunately, it looks like there is bad blood between the pair, as a source told Page Six that the 29-year-old actor is reportedly “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”

Sam is being represented by attorney Neal Hersh, while Britney hired high-power divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her. Britney’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, had hired a family lawyer to draft a prenup before the wedding. It is unlikely that a judge will invalidate a prenup; however, it is possible that Britney might agree to a settlement in order to put the matter behind her.

A few days after the divorce, the "Toxic" singer took to Instagram to share a video of her dancing around her living room. In the caption, she admitted that she is "a little shocked" by the divorce and admitted that she tries to make her life on Instagram seem "perfect" when that is far from the case.

"As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because it's honestly nobody’s business !!!" she wrote in the caption. "But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way, I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!!"

"I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that !!! I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but for some reason, I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses !!!" she added. "So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty d--- good !!! Anyway have a good day and don’t forget to smile !!!"
