Disturbing reports filled the air in Aspen, Colorado, as a nasty Bear attacked a security guard after it broke into a resort.

Of course, wandering around bear territory is not an experience anyone wants to have. Although rare, an average of 44 grizzly bear attacks occur worldwide each year, and the number seems to be rising.

Major Bear Trouble In Aspen, Colorado Paradise

The gruesome attack had the security guard rushed to the emergency room from the scene of the attack at the St. Regis Aspen Resort kitchen. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) was informed of the unfortunate incident at about 11 p.m. on Monday.

According to local news reports, the victim headed to the kitchen after receiving reports of an intruding bear. As he went round the corner to tactically arrest the animal, the ferocious bear charged at him and knocked him down.

However, the security guard escaped the assault and called 911, who conveyed him to the hospital and treated him for scratches on his back. The brave security guard was then discharged from the hospital in the early hours of Tuesday.

On how the bear gained access to the building, CPW explained that it entered through doors near the courtyard. Shortly after the attack, Wildlife officers arrived at the scene to search for the bear. It was located near the hotel, but all efforts to capture it proved abortive due to public safety.

Aggressive Bear Kills Elderly Couple At Banff National Park

A similar incident occurred earlier in the month at the Banff National Park and even resulted in the loss of lives. The famous Canada Park turned into a horror scene as an unfriendly grizzly bear attacked and killed a couple and their dog.

The couple initially sent a GPS alert about a bear attack to Parks Canada around 8 p.m. that day from the Red Deer River Valley west of Ya Ha Tinda Ranch. Per The Blast, the specially trained Parks Canada squad responded to the situation, but the unfavorable weather that evening disrupted plans.

According to Natalie Fay, the external relations manager for the Banff field unit, "Weather conditions did not allow for helicopter user," and the rescue team had to travel by land to the location that evening.

The team arrived at the scene around 1 a.m. and discovered two dead bodies and a dog. They also found the grizzly bear at the spot and immediately euthanized it for public safety.

The bodies of the late common-law partners were then moved to Sundre, Alta, for more investigations. The painful death confirmed by Parks Canada read:

"This is a tragic incident, and Parks Canada wishes to express its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims."

Euthanized Grizzly Bear Receives Public Support Despite Attack

A close relative of the late couple disclosed that the late couple were long-term partners who "loved the outdoors and were inseparable." They added that:

"They lived for being in the backcountry and were two of the most cautious people I know. They knew the bear protocol and followed it to a tee."

However, several social media users have a different opinion on the attack and the death of the bear in particular. According to one user, "If the humans had not been there in the first place….in the bear's home. Now the two people are dead, and the bear. What a waste."

Another one added, "When humans hunt & kill bears, the humans are not euthanized. Why is the bear, who is simply minding its own business in its natural habitat, euthanized after humans invade its natural space & the bear defends itself & kills the humans?"

One expressed their displeasure over the decreasing number of bears in Alberta and subtly defended its inhumane action by saying: "I'm torn here…of course it sad for the hikers, that's a given. But putting a beardown in a national park, its home, for doing what a bear does… is sad. Maybe 25k grizzlies in ??, and 40m humans, we are the problem, not them."

The other added, "I hate they killed the bear when it's humans who encroach on their homes! There are few grizzlies around but over 8 billion people.!"
