Britney Spears Describes Ex Sam Asghari As A ‘Gift From God’

Pop star Britney Spears was heaping praise on Sam Asghari in her new memoir, “The Woman In Me,” which was officially released on Tuesday, October 24.

The two met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016 and became engaged in September 2021, two months before her 13-year conservatorship came to an end. Although they were married in June 2022, the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor filed for divorce on August 16, 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

However, the 41-year-old pop star had already signed off on the final draft of her memoir before the 29-year-old actor filed for divorce, so the book does not get into their split. Instead, Britney had nothing but praise for the actor and talked about how “supportive” he was in the pages of her tell-all book.

The former couple is still finalizing their divorce, but in her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Britney refers to her ex as a “gift from God” and notes that she was “instantly smitten” when she met him in 2016. She called him an “inspiration” to her and knew “I wanted him in my life” the second that she laid eyes on him, as per TMZ.

She noted that their chemistry was off the charts when they first met, recalling how they “couldn’t keep [their] hands off each other.” She also mentioned how supportive he was during her court hearings as she tried desperately to fight her 13-year conservatorship. Britney even went as far as to credit him for giving her the courage to speak up for herself.

One of the bombshell revelations from her memoir is that Britney had an unplanned pregnancy with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, to whom she was linked from 1999 to 2002. However, in April 2022, only months before she was married, she took to Instagram to reveal that she was pregnant.

In part of her memoir released by Us Weekly last week, Britney recalled how “giddy” she was to learn that was pregnant, as she was “eager” to start a family with the actor “for a long time.” Unfortunately, the “Toxic” singer admitted that she was “scared” due to her experiences with “depression” in past pregnancies.

The “Piece Of Me” singer was married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007 and welcomed son Sean Preston in 2005 and Jayden James in 2006. Despite her hesitations regarding her pregnancy, Britney wrote about how Sam’s support made her feel “confident” that she could “make it through” the pregnancy.

Despite announcing her pregnancy in April, the following month, Britney took to Instagram again on May 14 to announce that the former couple had lost their “miracle” baby. “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” she wrote at the time. “This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news.”

“Our love for each other is our strength,” the statement continued. “We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”

Sam had nothing but positive things to say about his ex when asked by TMZ if he was "nervous" a week before her memoir was released. “No, I’ve… I already read it and I’m very proud of her and, you know, she put a lot of work to it and it was very hard, so I’m definitely excited and I’m extremely proud of her," he said. "It was a very tough one, and, uh, you know, I can’t wait to read it. I’ll be the first one in line to buy it.”

When asked if he was “back in the dating pool” amid his divorce, Sam responded, “No, I’m focused on work right now. So, you know, that’s what I’m… I’m doing. I’m putting a lot of work in stunt training and a lot of acting.”
