Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took a flight to a Caribbean island just days after attending a conference on climate change and its impact on mental health.
The duo allegedly jetted off from New Jersey to Canouan on a private jet and used the same aircraft for a four-hour trip to Atlanta, Georgia, before heading home to California.
Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Hopped On A Private Jet To Canouan
Reports reveal that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hopped on a private jet for their trip to Canouan in St. Vincent and the Grenadines after attending a summit about the impact of climate change on mental health.
Harry and Meghan also used the same aircraft, a Dassault Falcon 7X jet, to travel from the exclusive Island retreat back to Atlanta, Georgia. A journey that reportedly took four hours.
According to the Mirror, the pair are being called "hypocrites" for their jet-setting ways, especially considering how much more fuel a private jet consumes per passenger in comparison to airlines.
The royal couple was present at the October 10 conference organized by Project Healthy Minds, during which the late Robin Williams' son, Zak Williams, talked about how climate change affects people's mental health, especially young individuals.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex once discussed their interest in the environment and green energy during their interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which Harry highlighted climate change and mental health as critical issues.
The 39-year-old prince said, "I believe even more that climate change and mental health are two of the most pressing issues we're facing, and in many ways linked."
Per the news outlet, Harry and Meghan's recent flight totaled 4,000 miles with an estimated 9.6 tons of CO2 emissions.
The Private Jet Allegedly Belongs To A Friend Of Prince Harry
A source revealed to the Mirror that the Falcon 7X jet used by the royal couple belongs to a close pal of Harry, who owns a property in Canouan.
They also claimed that Harry and Meghan flew commercially from California to New York before the mental health conference and took another commercial flight from Atlanta to return home after their brief stop on the Caribbean island.
Harry and Meghan faced harsh criticism in 2019 for their jet-setting lifestyle. The duo took four private jet flights within 11 days, including one to the legendary singer Sir Elton John's home in Nice, France.
Norman Baker, a former MP and Liberal Democrat who studied the effect of Harry and Meghan's trips on the environment, said the duo were "hypocritical."
"There’s only one thing worse than damaging the environment unnecessarily through traveling habits, and that’s being hypocritical about the importance of climate change. [They] fail on both counts. If you can’t stop traveling by private jet, at least shut up about climate change," Baker said of the duo, per the Mirror.
Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Are Working On A Big Project For Netflix
Amid their busy philanthropic duties, Harry and Meghan are working on a new film project. The royal couple reportedly acquired the film rights to a best-selling romance book titled “Meet Me At The Lake” by Carley Fortune.
The book adaptation will serve as their first non-personal and fictional film project from their Netflix deal. "Meet Me At The Lake" is a love story about a couple dealing with parental loss, mental health issues, childhood trauma, and depression.
The storyline and characters in the novel are allegedly similar to Harry and Meghan's experiences together. It also includes “steamy sex scenes” and “drug use” and is set in Canada, where Meghan resided when she met Harry.
Prince Harry's Affectionate Nickname For Meghan Markle
In his “Heart of Invictus” docuseries, Harry revealed the affectionate nickname he calls Meghan. It came during a scene where the Duchess introduced the Duke on stage at The Hague during last year’s contest.
Meghan hyped up her beau, with whom she shares two kids, Archie and Lilibet. She stated, “I could not love and respect him more, and I know many of you feel the same because he is your fellow veteran, having served two tours of Afghanistan and ten years of military service, and the founder of Invictus Games."
After the glowing remarks from the Duchess, Harry said, “Thank you, my love,” as he took the stage to give his speech. The pair put on a very affectionate display at the recent Invictus Games, held in Düsseldorf, Germany.
