Britney Spears Says She Felt ‘Giddy’ About Having A Baby With Sam Asghari

Although Britney Spearsdoes not say much about her split from actor Sam Asghariin her memoir, she did open up about her surprise pregnancy.

The two met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016 and started dating shortly after. In September 2021, Sam popped the question two months before her controversial 13-year conservatorship came to an end. In June 2022, the couple got married in the backyard of her Thousand Oaks estate.

Unfortunately, the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor filed for divorce on August 16, 2023, amid accusations of infidelity. Months before they were married, however, Britney took to Instagram to announce that she was pregnant, only to have to share a heartbreaking statement a few weeks later that they had lost their “miracle baby early in the pregnancy.”

Although the 29-year-old actor filed for divorce from the 41-year-old pop star after Britney had already signed off on the memoir, she still mentions him briefly in the tell-all memoir. One of the highlights of their relationship was when she finally learned that she was pregnant and wrote that she was “giddy” with excitement in an excerpt released by Us Weekly.

A source told the outlet about how Britney wrote that she was so “eager” to start a family with the Iranian actor “for a long time” before they finally became pregnant. At the time, however, Britney admitted that she was also “scared” due to her experiences with “depression” in past pregnancies.

Britney was married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007 and welcomed son Sean Preston in 2005 and Jayden James in 2006. Even though she was nervous, she said that Sam’s support made her feel “confident” that she could “make it through” the pregnancy.

After announcing in April 2022 that they were expecting, Britney took to Instagram again on May 14 to announce to the world that they had lost their “miracle” baby. “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” she wrote at the time. “This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news.”

“Our love for each other is our strength,” the statement continued. “We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”

In an interview with BBC Persian prior to the heartbreaking announcement, Sam said that he was ready to be a father “three years ago” but lamented that the former couple had to wait until she was free of her conservatorship to do so.

In June 2021, when Britney was fighting back against her court-ordered conservatorship, she told a Los Angeles judge that she wanted to have a baby but could not due to the strict measures in place. “I want to have the real deal. I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” she said at the time. “I was told right now under the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby.”

In the BBC Persian interview, Sam said, “Yeah, I mean, this should have happened three years ago, to be honest with you.” He continued, “When you’re in a relationship with someone that you’re truly in love with, you want to recreate. And this is something that I want to do.”

Sam also opened up about the support that Britney received following the end of her conservatorship. “I can only speak on my reaction and it was phenomenal to see how everybody was so supportive and the whole world was engaged in it in a sense,” he told the outlet.

“I think people relate and it kind of unites people in a way, you know, as far as all these divisions that we have going on and not only in this country but globally,” he continued. “But I think people also like to unite in a way.”
