Singer Britney Spears has dropped a lot of bombshells about her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake over the past few days, but one of the most shocking seems to be concerning her breakup letter.
Although the two dated for only three years between 1999 to 2002, the now 41-year-old pop star revealed that she not only had her breakup letter framed, but she still keeps it underneath her bed!
Guess Where Britney Spears Keeps Her Framed Handwritten Breakup Letter From Justin Timberlake!
Although sources have said that Britney wrote about how Justin broke up with her via a text message, one insider told Us Weekly that Justin allegedly broke up with her “over the phone” but then traveled from California to Louisiana in order to deliver a handwritten breakup letter in person. The insider claims that Britney not only framed the letter but keeps it underneath her bed to this day!
Although she didn’t say exactly what Justin wrote in the letter, Britney wrote in her memoir that the “Cry Me A River” singer was a “good writer” and explained that the letter still makes her feel emotional. In an excerpt from The New York Times published on Thursday, Britney recalled being absolutely “devastated” by the breakup.
“I was comatose in Louisiana, and he was happily running around Hollywood,” she wrote. Amid allegations of infidelity, one of the biggest bombshells to come out of the memoir is her unplanned pregnancy when she was only 19 years old.
Britney Spears Recalls ‘Agonizing’ Unplanned Pregnancy
In an excerpt of “The Woman In Me,” released by People magazine, Britney opened up on the “agonizing” decision to terminate her pregnancy when Justin made it clear “that he didn’t want to be a father.”
“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” she wrote in her memoir. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
“I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she continued, adding, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
Family Friend Says Justin Timberlake Is ‘A Different Person Now’ Amid Memoir Drama
A longtime family friend allegedly told The Sun that Justin “owns who he was” at that period of his life, but says that he is a different person now. “Justin owns who he was when he and Britney were together, even though his personality, career, lifestyle, and personal priorities are radically different now, twenty years later,” they said. “This book is a nightmare for him because of how it throws the whole family into chaos.”
“The timing stings just as much as the revelation itself,” they continued. “Justin had a big fall planned with new music on deck, more work with his old friends in NSYNC, and of course, the next installment of the Trolls franchise, which has been a huge moneymaker for Justin over the last several years.”
Another source told Us Weekly that he is “trying to distance himself” and focus on his own family in light of the recent accusations. “The Social Network” actor married actress Jessica Biel in 2012. The two share two sons: Silas, 8, and Phineas, 3.
“Justin and Britney dated so long ago, and he has a whole different life now,” the insider told the outlet. “He’s focused on his family, his career, and moving forward, and he would like to leave anything that happened in the past behind them.”
In his own 2018 memoir, “Hindsight & All the Things I Can’t See In Front Of Me,” Justin explained why he wrote “Cry Me A River,” which was long assumed to be about Britney’s infidelity.
“I’ve been scorned. I’ve been pissed off. I wrote ‘Cry Me a River’ in two hours. I didn’t plan on writing it,” he wrote at the time. “The feelings I had were so strong that I had to write it, and I translated my feelings into a form where people could listen and, hopefully, relate to it. People heard me and they understood it because we’ve all been there.”
Britney Spears' memoir "The Woman In Me" is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
