Pop star Britney Spears has no plans to do an interview to promote her new book "The Woman In Me."

In the weeks leading up to the release of the tell-all book, fans wondered if the 41-year-old pop star would give an interview to promote the book, even though it looked unlikely. Now that the book is only days away from release, it looks like she will not be doing an interview to promote her book, although she will speak about it on social media.

She did a brief interview with People magazine via email, the topics focused on her day-to-day activities. In the email response, Britney described herself as a “simple girl” who likes to spend her free time playing with her dogs. “I really love people. I love God, I still love my family and close friends, I love tea parties and dinner parties. My friend Cade [Hudson] has me to dinner where I meet the most creative people I admire who make me belly laugh,” she said, referring to her longtime manager.

The Princess of Pop admitted that she is still “learning this new freedom” and confessed that it can be “challenging at times” to learn her limits after being subjected to a conservatorship from February 2008 to November 2021. That being said, she likes to spend her free time  “playing with my dogs [or] watching episodes of Friends and belly laughing.”

There Will Be No Interviews Going Forward... For Now

On Thursday, sources told TMZ that Britney has no plans to do a press tour to promote her new memoir. She will also not be participating in any sit-down interviews now and in the future. Although there were rumors that she would appear on “60 Minutes” or talk about her life in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, none of those interviews are going forward.

Sources said that the decision not to participate in any interviews was made by Britney and not her team. In late September, sources also told Page Six that Britney’s team felt that she was not ready to participate in any interviews, given her recent behavior on social media. That being said, they did admit that the power to accept or decline interviews rested “solely” with the pop star.

“She’s a free woman. She’ll decide. It’s her choice,” the insider said, adding, “She’s had offers and she doesn’t want to do anything.” Sources went on to say that Britney “has no desire to create more headlines after having her “mental heath, sexuality, parenting and body image constantly scrutinized.”

The insider went on to say that the media has “not been fair to Britney” over the years, even though a source told The Sun earlier this year that the pop star has been offered “significant financial sums” to participate in a sit-down interview and share highlights about her life that are not discussed in her memoir.

According to the outlet, Oprah reached out to do an interview with the pop star shortly after her conservatorship ended in late 2021; however, Britney turned down the offer at the time because she was “still coming to terms with independent life and mentally processing her freedom.”

The insider was hopeful that Britney might consider a sit-down interview now, adding that she is “in a different place” and trying to figure out what is best for her going forward. “The [interview] proposal remains complicated for Britney who continues to face challenges speaking to strangers at length about intimate aspects of her life,” the insider divulged. “The trauma didn’t go away overnight just because the conservatorship ended. Some days can be extremely testing and conversations can trigger her to behave unusually or even erratically.”

“Certainly, putting a TV lens on her could be problematic and it means that a proper news-style interview is out of the question,” they continued. “However, a more feature-style interview, allowing her and the team to have control is an option. A move like that, to work with a production company or someone like Oprah, would be her strongest play, but the reality is managing Britney’s mental well-being and health in the process.”

Britney's memoir "The Woman In Me" is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
