The Kardashians’ beloved on-screen chiropractor, Dr. Patrick Khaziran, aka “Dr. Pat”, is facing a 30-month prison sentence.
According to reports, Dr. Patrick Khaziran, who has worked with many celebrities aside from The Kardashian Family including Jake Paul, Kevin Hart, and more, is accused of generating dozens of fraudulent invoices for at least 22 former NBA players and billing their insurance.
Dr. Patrick Khaziran Facing 30-Month Prison Sentence
Dr. Khaziran is fighting a case involving a scheme to defraud the National Basketball Association Players’ Health and Welfare Benefit Plan, which took place between 2016 and 2019. The Plan, according to legal documents, "is a health care plan providing benefits to eligible active and former players of the NBA."
Dr. Khaziran allegedly conspired with former NBA player Terrence Williams -- who played for the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, and Sacramento Kings before retiring in 2013 -- former Utah Jazz assistant coach Keyon Dooling. Former Charlotte Bobcats player, Alan Anderson, was also apparently involved.
In August, Williams was sentenced to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to commit health care and wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, while Dooling was sentenced to 30 months in prison for his role. Anderson was sentenced to 24 months.
As Dooling and Anderson both played in the NBA, they were eligible to receive reimbursements from the Plan for legitimate, qualifying medical expenses, per the United States Attorney's Office
At the time, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said, “These former players recruited others to take part in this widespread fraud scheme and went to great lengths to keep the scheme running smoothly, facilitating hundreds of thousands of dollars of fraudulent claims. This Office will continue to aggressively prosecute those engaged in healthcare fraud schemes, no matter what their profession. Those considering submitting false claims to health care plans should recognize that they will be subject to serious penalties.”
At least 13 other former players have pleaded guilty to related charges, most of them receiving “time served” or probation.
Khloé Kardashian Raves About Dr. Patrick Khaziran
Reality television fans may recognize Dr. Khaziran as he appeared in the latest episode of “The Kardashians” when Scott Disick, with Khloé Kardashianby his side, visited his Los Angeles office.
Khloé Kardashian raved about Dr. Khaziran before Disick's appointment, telling him, “When I slipped three discs in my back, Dr. Pat got them back in there. You don’t have to do a surgery. Who wants surgery?'," referring to his electric muscle stimulation treatment.
Disick was there after he flipped his Lamborghini in a car accident last summer. “We gotta get your back better. Do you want me to introduce you to Dr. Pat? He’s amazing,” Kardashian said of Dr. Khaziran.
Dr. Patrick Khaziran Allegedly Falsified NBA Player's Documents
The Kardashians' beloved doctor was convicted of falsifying documents of former NBA players, that claimed they received medical services that were never actually provided.
Dr. Khaziran reportedly had a total of $1.3 million in fraudulent charges, which he split with Williams and Dooling, ultimately taking home $439,000.
