Hollywood star Will Smith has reacted to Jada Pinkett Smith’s book, Worthy, which debuts on October 17. The actor heaped praise onto his estranged wife in a letter read to her in an upcoming episode of the “On Purpose” podcast by Jay Shetty.
Over the past few days, social media has been flooded with Jada’s bombshells, one of which revealed that she has been separated from Will for the past seven years.
The actress, who shares two kids, Jaden and Willow, with Will, previously revealed that writing the book was “emotionally taxing.”
What Will Smith Thinks About Jada Pinkett Smith’s Upcoming Book
Will Smith gave his thoughts about his estranged wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s tell-all memoir, saying he applauds and honors her.
"If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would have hugged you more. I'll start now. Welcome to the author's club. I love you endlessly. Now go get some Merlot and take a rest," the actor said in a letter to podcast host Jay Shetty, per E! News.
The “Emancipation” star also told the New York Times in an email that Jada’s bombshell revelations while promoting her book “kind of woke” him up to see the “hidden nuances” she possessed.
“When you've been with someone for more than half of your life a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” the actor said, per The Daily Mail.
Will also mentioned that he has now realized that the “Red Table Talk” host was more resilient, clever, and compassionate than he'd understood.”
Jada Pinkett Smith Says Writing Worthy Was Emotionally Taxing
Will’s reaction comes over a month since Jada revealed on her Instagram page that writing the project was “emotionally taxing,” adding that it is “really technical.”
At the time, she also told fans that she would begin sharing some process into how she birthed the book, which she began writing in December 2021.
The Maryland-born beauty had earlier told People in a June exclusive that she penned the book to take back her narrative about her journey.
She told the publication, “So many people feel because of my talk show 'Red Table Talk' that they know my journey. And they really don't. There's been so much about my journey that I haven't really been able to share on a format like RTT.”
She also revealed that she named the book Worthy because she wanted to write about her journey to “self-worth in a real way.” Additionally, she shared that the book covered “everything” and hopes that it “enhances someone’s perspective of their own life.”
Jada Pinkett Smith Hints At Moving Back In With Will In The Future
In the meantime, Jada is currently not dating anyone despite being separated from Will. The two continue to live within the same vicinity, seemingly unable to break the strings holding them together completely.
Recently, Jada has speculated that she could return to living with Will in the future to tend to him in his old age.
“I think eventually we will [live together again.] I really do. Will's getting old,” said Jada in an interview with The Times.
“I'm staying quite young, but it's getting apparent to me that he's gonna need someone to take care of him.”
As to why they have yet to divorce, Jada revealed that such a decision did not feel right for them when they had their separation in 2016.
“When we had that separation in 2016, the goal was to divorce, but divorce just didn't feel right for either of us. We don't know why. But here we are,” the mother of two said.
It is still unclear what led to the breakdown of Will and Jada’s marriage, as neither of the duo have yet explicitly spoken about it. However, many have rumored that it had to do with Jada’s entanglement with singer August Alsina.
Some reports have also claimed that Jada's close friendship and adoration for late rapper, Tupac Shakur, may have put a strain on her marriage with Will.
