Hugh Jackman Reportedly Still Devastated Over Split From Deborra-Lee Furness

Following his split from Deborra-Lee Furness, Hugh Jackman isn't rushing back into dating and reflects on his marriage. An insider stressed that Jackman wants to give any future relationship his full attention and is not looking to be a "playboy."

In a joint statement, Jackman and Furness confirmed their separation after 27 years of marriage, expressing a desire for individual growth. The couple, who met on the set of "Corelli" in 1995, had a strong and rapid connection, leading to their marriage in 1996.

Hugh Jackman is reportedly not eager to return to the dating scene following his split from Deborra-Lee Furness. According to an insider who spoke to Daily Mail, Jackman reflects on his marriage and the new possibilities of single life.

"Hugh and Deborra have tremendous respect for each other and want to see each other do well in life, whether that is in their careers, love life, and everything else that hits their plate," the insider revealed.

The source continued: "Hugh is not against dating or against being put together with someone that friends might think is right for him, but he is still processing life without the woman he has been with for decades."

"He is in that lull period where he is still mourning the breakup, looking to dive into work to get his mind removed from it, flattered that a new love life could happen in the future, and also, he loves the fact that he could do absolutely nothing at all."

They continued: "The options he has are exciting and scary; he wants to respect Deborra's feelings and feelings, and he also wants to respect the feelings of someone he would get involved with. Sure, he is interested in dating, but he also wants to give it his 100 percent attention and not half-ass it if and when that comes about."

The insider concluded: "He wants to approach that part of life with the best intentions; he's not looking to be a playboy."

In a joint statement to People last month, Jackman and Furness confirmed their separation after 27 years of marriage. They cited a desire to pursue "individual growth" as the reason for the split.

The former celebrity couple signed the statement as "Deb and Hugh Jackman," noting: "This is the sole statement either of us will make."

Jackman and Furness were co-stars who met on the set of "Corelli" in 1995. For the lovebirds, their attraction was rapid and intense. When they met, the "Force of Nature" star was already an established actress, and Jackman was a budding actor fresh from drama school.

In a 2017 interview with People, the "Greatest Showman" fondly reflected on their first encounter. "Deb, she was a big star…I get picked up, and Deb is in the car's front seat. I'll never forget," he recalled.

He continued: "She took off her seatbelt, and she turned around and put out her hand and took off her sunglasses and said, 'Hi, I'm Deborra-lee Furness; nice to meet you.' I remember thinking, 'I like this girl."

A year after they met, the lovebirds tied the knot. Their wedding took place on April 11, 1996, and they became one of Hollywood's most cherished couples.

Jackman is reportedly in the early stages of writing a memoir as part of marking a new chapter in his life.

Per Today, The "Wolverine" star had previously mentioned to the Australian publication Who last December that he had begun therapy and described the benefits of having "someone really smart [to talk to], who's a little bit removed from your world, can be really helpful."

He emphasized that this process had enhanced his ability to connect with loved ones, adding, "Most importantly, it's helping me to be more relational with the people I love in my life, and understanding and living in their shoes and being clear to be able to see them."
