The father of pop star Britney Spears, 71-year-old Jamie Spears, has been seen out of the hospital following his latest health scare.
Although the pop star reportedly took a trip to an island in French Polynesia this weekend ahead of the release of her memoir, "The Woman In Me," Jamie has been in and out of the hospital reportedly due to an infection that resulted from a knee replacement surgery that he had over a decade ago.

On Thursday morning, Jamie Spears looked extremely thin as he was photographed walking outside his home in Louisiana wearing a hat, glasses, and loose-fitting clothes.
A source told Page Six that Jamie has been “suffering with a bad infection” that “required surgery” and was “hospitalized for weeks in a special infectious disease facility.”
A second insider told the outlet that Britney Spears' estranged father has been "severely ill" following a surgery he had in August to combat an infection that resulted from a prior knee replacement surgery.
People magazine confirmed that Jamie Spears is "now in an infectious disease outpatient facility" to treat a bacterial infection and is "on the mend."
Jamie Spears' Colon Ruptured In November 2018
Prior to his August 2023 health scare, the Spears patriarch had also been hospitalized in November 2018 after he became "seriously ill." At the time, he was rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where his colon “spontaneously ruptured.”
The publication received a statement from the Spears family at the time explaining that Jamie had to undergo emergency surgery to save his life. He stayed in the hospital for 28 days during that health scare.
"After a long, complicated post-operative period, he is recuperating at home and gaining strength, and is expected to make a full recovery,” the statement said.
“I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family,” the "Overprotected" singer added in the statement at the time. “We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me.”
Two months after his health scare, the "Toxic" singer took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that she was delaying her Las Vegas residency, Domination, while her father recovered.
“It’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make,” she wrote in January 2019, as per the outlet. “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him.”
Jamie Spears Is Reportedly Living With Daughter Jamie Lynn Spears
In addition to Britney Spears, 41, Jamie, 71, also shares daughter Jamie Lynn Spears, 32, and son Bryan, 46, with his ex-wife Lynne Spears, 68.
On Wednesday, sources told the Daily Mail that Jamie Spears was staying with Jamie Lynn Spears in Louisiana after getting out of rehab earlier this summer to combat his alcohol addiction. However, sources told Page Six later that night that Jamie never went to rehab.
Nevertheless, Jamie is reportedly living in a guest house on Jamie Lynn’s property in Hammond, Louisiana, with the "Zoey 101" star's husband, Jamie Watson, and their two daughters: Maddie, 15, and Ivey, 5.
According to the outlet, Jamie was babysitting his two granddaughters while Jamie Lynn traveled to Los Angeles to compete in season 32 of "Dancing With The Stars." Unfortunately, she was eliminated during week two of the competition.
“Jamie was babysitting Ivey while Jamie Lynn competed on Dancing With The Stars with Lynne,” the source said, noting that Britney's relationship with her sister has become strained as a result of the living arrangement.
“This obviously infuriates Britney for so many reasons,” the source divulged. “She feels betrayed that her sister is putting up her dad and allowing him to watch her kids after what he did to her.”
Following a public mental health breakdown, Britney Spears was placed in a conservatorship in February 2008. During this time, her personal and financial affairs were largely controlled by her father. She remained in the controversial conservatorship for almost 13 years, until it was struck down by a judge in November 2021.
