Kathy Griffin In Pink Bikini Recreates Britney Spears’ Viral Knife Dancing Video

Comedian Kathy Griffin is having some fun at the expense of pop star Britney Spears!

Last Monday, the “Oops!... I Did It Again” singer went viral for sharing a video that featured her dancing with knives. Although she assured her fans that they were fake in the caption, many of her 42.2 million followers assumed that they were real.

On Tuesday, comedian Kathy Griffin decided to recreate Britney’s video with “not a prop knife,” down to her pink bikini and all!

In a video set to Katy Perry’s hit song “Waking Up In Vegas,” the 62-year-old comedian poked fun at the 41-year-old pop star by wearing a pink bikini and black rain boots. Although Britney usually wears black or white pointed boots in her dancing videos, she was actually barefoot in her knife dancing video.

“You guys, please come see me Friday, October 6 at the Mirage in Las Vegas,” she says in the Instagram video. “I’ll be making fun of everyone and everything, including myself.” After flailing her arms throughout the video, she then steps back and spins around, holding out a kitchen knife and a spatula at arm’s length.

“This is not a prop knife or spatula,” she wrote in the text over the video. In the caption, she added, “You heard me, we’ve got knives, we’ve got spatulas…and we’ve got a Vegas show @themiragelv on October 6th!” Fans loved her video, with one fan joking, “You’re so sharp.”

“You look incredible!!!” another follower gushed. “You're ripped woman! Carry on. Yes, keep the boots,” a third fan shared. “I’m planning on dressing up as Knife-Wielding Britney for Halloween!!!” another follower wrote. “Smoking hot body. Y’all she’s in her 60s!!!” another fan exclaimed.

That being said, not everyone thought it was right to make fun of Britney, given all that she has been through during her 13-year conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021. In addition, her husband, Iranian actor Sam Asghari, filed for divorce on August 16 following approximately fourteen months of marriage.

“I love you @kathygriffin but let’s give Britney a break. I know you’re a comedian and it’s what you guys are born to do but she’s been through enough,” one fan wrote. “Men have controlled her for the last 13 years and her ex-husband is still controlling her financially. They are all responsible for trying to ruin her.”

“As women, let’s not add to her pain or fuel that flame. She needs to be supported and not turned into a skit. I’m just one of your fans sharing my thoughts. I’m so glad you’re healthy! I can’t wait to come to another one of your shows,” they added.

On Tuesday night, host Jimmy Kimmel actually played that video on his show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” while Kathy Griffin talked about the #FreeBritney movement and the end of the pop star’s conservatorship.

“I fear the #FreeBritney people, I do, but sometimes, a person can be too free,” the comedian said, adding, “I love you #FreeBritney people, but you didn’t have a plan.”

Despite the clink of the knives, Britney has maintained that they were fake and she was just preparing for Halloween.

“I started playing in the kitchen with knives today ??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️ !!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon ??? !!!” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post.

However, on Tuesday, she followed it up with another Instagram video that featured her dancing with a bandage on her wrist, a cut on her leg, and a bruise on her lower back.

“My ‘Pretty Woman’ top … kinda cool after my briefing on polka dots ???????? !!!! Swipe to see both !!!” she wrote in the caption, making no reference to her injuries.

Last Thursday, Britney donned pink bikini bottoms and a white crop top as she danced barefoot on her living room floor with her knives. Again, she insisted that they were fake.

“I know I spooked everyone with the last post, but these are fake knives that my team rented from Hand Prop shop in LA,” she wrote in the caption of this Instagram post. “These are not real knives. No one needs to worry or call the police. I’m trying to imitate one of my favorite performers Shakira … a performance I was inspired by !!!  Cheers to us bad girls who aren’t afraid to push boundaries and take risks ??????!”

The pop star is referencing the knife dance that "Hips Don't Lie" singer Shakira performed at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards last month.

On Wednesday night, one day before this video, the police did actually show up at her Thousand Oaks estate to conduct a welfare check on the pop star after several fans called in citing her injuries as a reason for concern, but the police were able to speak to her and determine all was well.

It's worth nothing that the bandage and cuts have not appeared in later videos, prompting some to suggest that Britney was just trolling.
