Kelly Rizzo Says She Feels ‘Guilty About The Happy Moments’
Kelly Rizzo, the widow of the late Bob Saget, has expressed her willingness to date again. During an interview with Extra, she mentioned that she is “open to it" and would consider going on a date if asked.
Rizzo also shared her experience of "survivor's guilt" following Saget's passing at the age of 65 last year. She admitted feeling guilty for having moments of happiness, stating: “You feel guilty if you have happy moments or if you’re not feeling sad all the time.”
She continued: “You feel guilty about that, but then I learned that’s very normal. Now that enough time has passed, even his girls are always like, ‘That’s silly. Heavenly Bob wants you to be happy.”
Rizzo humorously suggested that Saget's "earthly" and "heavenly" selves might have different opinions on her happiness. "Earthly Bob would’ve been like, ‘Not too happy.’” she joked.
Kelly Rizzo’s Sweet Tribute To Her Late Husband Bob Saget
On the first anniversary of Saget's death, Rizzo posted a touching Instagram tribute featuring cherished moments from their time together.
The food and travel blogger reflected on the year without him, saying, “One year. Our hearts are so heavy.”
She acknowledged the surreal feeling of not having spoken to or seen her loving husband for a year, writing, “How could I not have talked to or seen my loving husband in a whole year? The surreal-ness never subsides. I’ve accepted the reality long ago but it still seems unreal when I see photos or videos of him so full of life.”
Rizzo found solace in the fact that, despite her grief, she was fortunate to have spent several years as his wife. She continued: “I am the luckiest that I got to be his wife. I am the luckiest that I got to live with his warmth, laughter, and brilliance, and love. I am the luckiest that I get to have his girls by my side. I am the luckiest that I got to watch him first-hand help people, make them happy, and make the world a better place.”
Bob Saget And Kelly Rizzo’s Relationship Timeline
Saget and Rizzo first crossed paths in 2015 when the comedian slid into her Instagram DM. A year later, the love birds went public with their relationship. In 2018, Saget and Rizzo exchanged wedding vows and tied the knot during a beautiful ceremony at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica, California.
Tragically, their romance was cut short as Saget passed away in January 2022 after being found unresponsive in his Orlando, Florida, hotel room. Authorities later determined that his death resulted from head trauma.
In a statement shared with US Weekly in February of the same year, the family clarified his cause of death, stating, “They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it, and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved.”
The late comedian had previously been married to Sherri Kramer, and they had three daughters: Aubrey, 36, Lara, 33, and Jennifer, 30. The pair eventually divorced in 1997.
Kelly Rizzo Put Her Strength To Test On ‘Special Forces’
During her interview with Extra, Rizzo opened up about her experience on "Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.”
She talked about going into the grueling show while grieving the loss of a loved one. “When you go through the loss of a loved one, you don't feel that strong because you're in it. You don't really have that perspective,” Rizzo stated.
However, she acknowledged that others often see your incredible strength, adding, “But when everyone is telling you you have this incredible strength. You're like... 'Alright, let's put it to the test.'”
She also mentioned the challenges of sleeping on the show, highlighting the difficulties of sharing a room “with 14 people and people are snoring and people are tossing and turning.”
According to Rizzo, "Vanderpump Rules" star Tom Sandoval and actress Tara Reid "snored a lot."
