Singer Grimes is suing Elon Musk for allegedly keeping her away from their child and attempting to tear her "family apart."
She previously cried out on social media that Musk had refused her to see their son Techno Mechanicus. The couple, who share three kids, have been in an on-and-off relationship since 2018.
The Canadian singer compared her relationship with Musk to a "really good internship" earlier this year. However, Grimes revealed later that they were broken up again.
Grimes Files Suit Against Elon Musk For Parental Rights
Grimes made a court filing against her multi-billionaire ex-partner after he allegedly refused to let her see their child, Techno. On September 29th, the singer wrote a "petition to establish a parental relationship" after multiple attempts to get through to Musk.
The petition has been used in the past to identify the parents of a child and give room for filing child custody-related cases.
While the Tesla CEO is yet to respond, Grimes has publicly called him out on the matter. According to the LA Times, the 35-year-old discussed the dynamics of her relationship with Musk during a Vanity Fair interview.
In the same interview, she announced the birth of their second child, Exa Dark Soderæl Musk, and claimed that she and the billionaire were still in love. Grimes said, "I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we're very fluid."
She added, "We live in separate houses. We're best friends. We see each other all the time. ... We just have our own thing going on, and I don't expect other people to understand."
Grimes and Musk, who were first romantically linked in 2018, are now officially broken up, as she announced on her X page earlier this year.
Grimes Cried Out On Social Media Over Her Inability to See Her Son
While Grimes has yet to request custody rights of Techno, She recently cried out on social media for help getting a chance to see her child. She called out Musk for keeping their child away from her and asked Shivon Zilis, whom Musk shares twins with, to unblock her.
In the now-deleted tweet referring to the 52-year-old and Zilis, Grimes said, "Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer."
She added that the billionaire turned a deaf ear to her requests to see their kids. "I have never even been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart," Grimes noted.
Although it's unclear why she tagged Zilis, the venture capitalist who works for Musk was rumored to be romantically linked with him in the past.
At the time, Zilis clarified through a biography titled "Elon Musk" that she never dated him. However, they have yet to reveal whether they're in a romantic relationship since Grimes split from Musk.
Elon Musk Gushes About Having Kids
Musk gushed about his passion for having kids following a recent meeting. The SpaceX CEO met with the President of Hungary, Katalin Novák, to discuss world stability-related issues. This came after he missed the Budapest Summit aimed at discussing population decline and collapse.
After the meeting, Musk took to his newly refurbished social media platform to tweet about his love for children.
The father of 11 wrote, "Having children is saving the world." Musk also has several other tweets advocating for childbearing and care.
Grimes Defends Her Son's Name
Prior to Grimes' outburst about seeing her children, she publicly defended her and Musk's son. The child's first name was changed from X Æ A-12 to 12 in Roman Numerals for legal reasons. Before the change, the public criticized the duo's eccentric choice of name for their child.
Grimes defended the X name again, noting how "cool" it was. The Canadian singer singled out a recent post calling out the name choice and said that it was "bizarre" to criticize the name.
She added that her and Musk's choice was similar to other parents with "weird" names for their children.
"He loves his name and mostly ppl think it's cool. X men etc. X is popular at school lol." Opting to keep the identities of her friends out of the picture, Grimes noted that she knew a handful of people who also gave "cool" names to their kids. She said, "Most millennials named their kids weird names - not just me."
