Former 'Jack---' star Bam Margera loves his sober lifestyle and has returned to skating after a break. The television personality and stunt performer revealed that he is one month alcohol-free and willing to keep going. Margera previously got checked into a psychiatric facility in June.
Despite help from friends, this is the first time Margera has willingly wanted to get better. He got into trouble for getting drunk in public and improper behavior last month. The 43-year-old is in a legal battle with his ex-wife, Nicole Boyd, for the custody of their five-year-old son, Phoenix.
Bam Margera Is One Month Sober And Is Skating Again
Margera recently reached a one-month sobriety milestone and has resumed his favorite hobby, skating. The TV personality previously took a break from the sport, given his struggle with alcohol and substance abuse. However, he is now willing to be a better person and continue his sobriety.
This is the first time since his struggle with addiction that the "Jackass" star personally felt the need to take responsibility for himself. According to TMZ, Margera lives on a farm with his girlfriend, Dannii.
A source close to the star disclosed to the news outlet that he now goes to the gym with her and walks their dogs on the farm. Margera has also lost some weight and revealed how much he missed skating. Despite years of on-and-off sobriety, Margera's friends are still very supportive and hope for the best for him.
Bam Margera Got Arrested For Public Intoxication
Before Margera's current one-month sobriety achievement, he got arrested in August for public intoxication and improper behavior. According to reports, the authorities caught him arguing loudly with a woman outside a hotel at 4:30 a.m.
The police then tried to calm him down and realized that he had little balance, slurred speech, and a strong smell of alcohol. Following this, he was arrested and taken into custody. Margera eventually got bailed out by a close friend after confirming that he neither had injuries nor implemented any on the woman he was previously yelling at.
This is one of several other public intoxication situations Margera experienced in the past year. He previously argued with a woman while his estranged wife and son were eating in the same restaurant. Witnesses shared clips of the exchange on social media, showing Margera storming in and out of the restaurant and arguing with the authorities.
Nicole Boyd Split From Bam Margera Over Drinking Issues
Margera's wife, Nicole Boyd, filed for legal separation in March, stating his drinking problems as the primary reason. The 10-year-long marriage stopped after Boyd realized that her husband's behavior was dangerous to raising their child, Phoenix.
At the time, the model noted that it was a "hard choice" to make. However, it was necessary, as she had to "protect herself and her son." The couple experienced hurdles during their marriage, especially ones related to Margera's battles with alcohol abuse.
This warranted his admission into a correctional facility in 2018. While he has been in and out of facilities since then, Margera decided to be more serious about getting help. This followed Boyd's decision to seek full custody of their five-year-old son in 2021.
Nicole Boyd Won Temporary Custody Of Their Son, Phoenix
The most recent update on the estranged couple's legal battle is that Boyd currently has temporary custody of Phoenix. A court granted this request following Margera's August arrest for public intoxication. Boyd was physically present at the court during the proceeding, while Margera joined via video call.
He previously requested both physical and legal custody of Phoenix, accusing his wife of trying to keep their son away from him. However, the court ruled in favor of Boyd. The duo is expected to be back in court in a few months. However, Phoenix will remain in physical custody with Boyd while Margera gets to FaceTime him up to four times a week.
