Tory Lanez is allegedly afraid for his life as he adjusts to prison life after being sentenced to 10 years for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. A new report revealed that the rapper feels like his celebrity status makes him a "direct target." He's housed with other hardcore criminals in the Administrative Segregation area and kept alone.

Lanez will eventually be moved from North Kern to a federal facility to serve his sentence. His convictions include assault with a firearm, discharging with gross negligence, and carrying an unregistered firearm.

Tory Lanez reportedly fears for his safety and life as he begins a 10-year prison sentence for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. A source spoke to Page Six about how the rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has been doing since arriving at North Kern State Prison in California.

They said, "Tory is scared for his life and safety in prison. He feels like he is an instant and direct target because of his celebrity status." 

Another report revealed that Lanez is being kept in Administrative Segregation and is "escorted to the showers where he bathes by himself." The "Hurts Me" rapper is also kept alone if he goes to the yard and brings all meals to his cell.

The Page Six source spoke further about how Lanez could be in danger in the prison. They said, "He stands in at 5-foot-3, so his size is a setback. He is housed with real hardcore criminals and murderers. So, he hopes his lawyers will be able to continue fighting for his freedom while still maintaining his innocence. The whole thing is a mess."

According to the news outlet, several other inmates at North Kern prison are incredibly violent. One inmate reportedly serving multiple murder sentences was recently charged with first-degree murder for the death of his cellmate. Another inmate was recently convicted for attacking two staff members at the prison.

Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in August after being found guilty of shooting Megan in both feet after a July 2020 party.

Tory Lanez's Family Is Concerned About Him

Lanez's family is highly "concerned for him, especially his dad." The "Say It" rapper has maintained good contact with his family so far, and "they are all trying to keep his spirits up."

Speaking about how Lanez has changed so far, a source told Page Six, "He definitely had his moments where he has teared up." The rapper is also now "realizing who his real friends are."

Lanez will eventually be moved from North Kern to another prison after authorities decide on the facility to complete his sentence.

He initially pleaded not guilty to all the charges but was found guilty on all three counts. The conviction includes assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered handgun in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Megan hasn't commented on Lanez's conviction but gave a victim impact statement during his trial. It read in part. "He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma… He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul."

He Maintains His Innocence

Despite his conviction, Lanez has maintained that he's innocent of all charges. He initially made an Instagram post taking responsibility for his actions and seemingly apologized but later took it down. The "In For It" rapper then made another post clarifying that he never took responsibility for the charges.

The post read, "I have never let a hard time intimidate me. I will never let any jail time eliminate me. Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will. In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I'm being wrongfully convicted of."

Lanez promised his fans that he wouldn't stop fighting for his freedom. He wrote, "I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do. I've faced adversity my whole life, and every time it looked like I would lose, I came out on top. This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall, and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious. Tough times don't last, but people do."
