‘The Vampire Diaries’ Star Nina Dobrev Enters Her ‘Surfing Era’

Actress Nina Dobrev is a big fan of spending time in the water and fans can't believe that she hasn't hit her "surfing era" sooner!

The actress best known for her starring role in "The Vampire Diaries" took to Instagram to share a few clips of her trying out her surfing skills at the Kelly Slater Wave Co. Surf Ranch in Solana Beach, California.

Nina Dobrev, born Nina Kamenova Dobreva, put her fit physique on display while surfing at the Kelly Slater Wave Co. Surf Ranch. She exhibited perfect form as she crouched down on the board, letting her wet dark hair fall loosely over one shoulder. She has her eyes focused in front of her as she rides a wave, showing off her summer tan in a “Barbie” pink swimsuit.

“Does this mean I've earned the right to use the chaka emoji now?” she asked in the caption of this Instagram post as “The Vampire Diaries” fans went wild with the snaps. “From Vampire Diaries to Vampire Surfing,” one fan joked while her “The Vampire Diaries” costar, Kayla Ewell, wrote, “Um. Yes. Let’s goooooo.”

In another shot, “The Out-Laws” actress gave fans another look at her one-piece floral pink swimsuit as she posed for a photo while sitting on her surfboard. “NEENS IN HER SURFING ERA,” one fan exclaimed. “RIPPING!” another follower agreed. “You’re the coolest, Neens!” a third fan gushed.

“When in doubt, ask, ‘What would Nina Dobrev do?’ The answer is: Probably something risk-taking. (Someone get her bubble wrap.),” another follower teased. “Coolest person ever,” another fan wrote. “It’s giving Nina from Malibu Rising,” another follower chimed in.

In a third photo, the “Let’s Be Cops” actress looked like she was having a blast riding the waves. She is totally in her element as she maintains perfect form on her white surfboard. “You give me the energy to face my fears. I love you,” one fan commented. “You are awesome, Neens,” another follower agreed. “GORGEOUS,” a third fan agreed.

“You enjoy life so well,” another follower wrote. “Just getting your daily dose of vitamin sea,” another fan teased. “Neens in her surfing era. I love this so much!” another follower exclaimed. “That is what happens when you’re dating an Olympic athlete,” another fan chimed in, referring to retired Olympic snowboarder Shaun White.

Fans have a lot of love for Nina Dobrev and Shaun White’s relationship, especially after the two rang in the new year in Antarctica. From Costa Rica to Santorini, Greece, the two have traveled the world together, crossing one tropical destination off their bucket list at a time.

The two met at an event organized by motivational speaker Tony Robbins in 2019 and moved in together at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020. The couple has been going strong ever since and has had no problems sharing their PDA-filled snaps on social media.

In April 2023, Shaun discussed a possible proposal to People magazine. “We’re just enjoying our time together right now. No pressure,” he said at the time. “But I told her, I was like, ‘Look, after the Olympics, I finally got my freedom to do whatever. And let’s just have fun and be together and support each other.'” He went on to add, “But you never know. We’ll see what happens.”

In October 2021, the five-time Olympian gushed over his “beautiful relationship” with the “Love Hard” actress saying, “Nina’s incredible. What an influence on my life.” He added, “Not only does she run her own show, her own world, companies she’s involved in, things she’s producing, all this stuff going on. She holds me to this same high standard, which is so wonderful to have in a partner.”

In October 2022, the retired Olympic snowboarder was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Gala. At the event, E! News asked him if he had any plans to pop the question any time soon. He cryptically responded, “Time will tell.” He went on to say, “Things are great with Nina and I, and I am so excited to focus on our relationship and my relationship with other friends and family.”

“We’ve done a lot,” he continued. “After the Olympics, there’s always like this emotional comedown, even if you win, and I was able to fill that time doing things with her, traveling around the world, seeing friends and family.”

He said that his most memorable trip so far was traveling to France to visit with Nina’s mother. “It was just the best,” he shared. “These are those moments. You can have the glitz and glam of it all, but real family quality time with people is what I want for the most—and now I am doing that.”
