Chelsea Handler Hilariously Addresses Lauren Boebert's 'Beetlejuice' Scandal
Handler, on Tuesday, posted a video blasting congresswoman Lauren Boebert for causing a scene at a recent "Beetlejuice" play.
The popular comic, who was dressed in a loose shirt and black bikini paired with sunglasses, directly addressed the controversy on her TikTok page with her usual wit and humor.
Handler started by jokingly referencing a line from the iconic film where the name Beetlejuice is spoken three times to summon the character.
She quipped, "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, where are you? He's probably too tired from our lust-filled evening last night."
"I was just scrolling through my TikTok feed and happened to see this lovely video of America's own beloved Beetlejuice, Lauren Boebert, getting kicked out of a performance of Beetlejuice the Musical," Handler stated.
The actress then poked fun at Boebert's initial claim that she was escorted out of the theater for "singing too loudly," saying that the staff at the venue actually had the"absolute honor of removing Boebert due to multiple disturbances."
As Handler remarked, these disturbances were for "taking photos and videos during the middle of the performance," "vaping during the performance," and, most notably, being "involved in a little hanky panky with her partner."
"I f***ing love it," she added with a chuckle.
Chelsea Handler Tells Lauren Boebert To Pass Legislations To Fund The Arts If She Supports It
Continuing her video on TikTok, the comedian noted that the theater was not the place for Boebert's behavior while bringing up the debate around "concert and show etiquette," especially after the pandemic.
She said, "We all know how I feel about having a good time, but there is a time and a place to get a little rowdy and during a performance of 'Say My Name,' isn't it."
"There's been a lot of discussion online about concert and show etiquette recently, and ever since the pandemic ended, some audiences are becoming a little more part of the show than artists would like," Handler stated.
The comedian continued, "When you go to a show, we want you and others around you to enjoy what we have worked so hard to make for you. and not have you be a f***ing distraction from it."
Handler then directly called out Boebert again, telling the congresswoman that if she was going to support the arts, she should "pass some legislation to fund it rather than become a national distraction for it," adding, "You f***ing dipsy doodle."
TikTokers Joke About Lauren Boebert's 'Hanky Panky' At 'Beetlejuice'
Taking to the comment section of Handler's post, several users on TikTok shared their hilarious takes on Boebert's actions during the "Beetlejuice" play.
One user commented, "She was trying to juice his beetle if ya know what I mean," along with an eggplant emoji.
Another wrote, "She said 'sorry I was a little too eccentric in public,' whoopsie daisy."
"LB is just another Christian who can't keep her hands to herself," commented a third person with a smiley face emoji.
"Motor Boeberting," another person joked.
Other people made mention of Boebert's date, noting how the Republican congresswoman discovered he was a Democrat after their scandalous incident.
"She admitted the guy she was with is [a] democrat. Hypocrisy she is," one person commented.
Another said, "I don't know what to be more shocked about - the fact she's dating a gay-bar owner or that he's dating satan itself."
Lauren Boebert Apologizes For Her Inappropriate Behavior
After her scandalous video went viral on social media, Boebert had no choice but to come clean and own up to her actions.
She released an apology, claiming that her actions were not intended to be "malicious" or cause "harm."
Her apology read, "The past few days have been difficult and humbling, and I'm truly sorry for the unwanted attention my Sunday evening in Denver has brought to the community. While none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did and I regret that."
She added, "There's no perfect blueprint for going through a public and difficult divorce, which over the past few months has made for a challenging personal time for me and my entire family. I've tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can, but I simply fell short of my values on Sunday. That's unacceptable and I'm sorry."
Boebert has since stated that she and her democrat date, Quinn Gallagher, will no longer be seeing each other, most likely due to his party affiliation.
