'Black-ish' star Anthony Anderson settled his divorce with ex-wife, Alvina Anderson, agreeing to pay monthly spousal support.
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Mrs. Anderson told the court that the former couple is ready to end their ongoing divorce due to a "written agreement." In the filing, she points out that the matter is "uncontested" meaning both sides are ready to move on.
The actor agreed to pay a monthly sum in spousal support for the divorce settlement, but the amount is to remain private. The deal struck by the parties, but wasn't made public by the courts.
"The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic partnership rights, including support, the original of which is being or has been submitted to the court. I request that the court approve the agreement," it reads.
Anthony Anderson Settles Divorce With Ex-Wife Alvina Anderson
As we reported, Alvina originally filed for divorce in 2015, but two years later the couple announced they had reconciled their marriage. Fast forward to March 25, 2022, she pulled the plug on their marriage again after 22 years of marriage. She requested Anthony pay spousal support and attorney's fees for the case. Now, it appears he delivered on the request.
In the original divorce, Mrs. Anderson demanded that all property acquired during the marriage be seen as "community property" and should be divided evenly. It should be noted, that the settlement agreement addressed all of the former couple's property too. According to reports, the duo sold their family home in Encino and split the profits from the sale. "The net proceeds of the sale of the (Residence,) defined as the sale price less payoff of the mortgage, and the payment of commissions, fees, and expenses of the listing agents and escrow company, shall be distributed one-half to each party," the agreement read.
The court eventually ordered Anthony to co-sign on his ex-wife's lease, so she could "secure alternate housing."
'Black-ish' Star Anthony Anderson Won't Pay Any Child Support In Divorce
Child support is not an issue in this case, because the couple's two children are already adults.
During a recent interview, Anderson opened up about meeting his wife back in college, saying, "My sophomore year, her freshman year, I knew a girl who lived in the apartment, so I went to knock on the door to invite her to this party that I and my buddies were having. My wife answered the door. I was like, ‘I was coming to invite Stacey to this party we’re having.’ Stacey didn’t show up, but my wife did – and we have been together ever since that night," he said.
He continued, telling Parage Magazine, "And I was just me: I got there early, she didn’t see nobody else, she was, ‘All right, I’m gonna rock out with this dude! We got married on our 10-year anniversary. She’s quiet, I’m loud. Opposites attract."
