Cindy Crawford's Dad Originally Thought Modeling Was Prostitution

PEOPLE was granted an exclusive glimpse into the upcoming four-part series, where Crawford recounts her journey from a small town in Illinois to the dazzling runways of New York and Milan.

"I never even thought about modeling," the actress confessed in the brief 25-second clip, which kicked off with a photo of the supermodel from the 1980s, marking the early days of her journey.

Perched in a white director's chair, sporting a relaxed ensemble of a black dress paired with a matching leather jacket, "The Hospital in the Sky" narrator stated, "I didn't even know it was a real job. I didn't know how I would get from DeKalb, Illinois, to a magazine."

As the scene transitioned to footage of Crawford engaged in commercial work during the '80s, she recalled her father's misconception about modeling and what happened at her first assignment. The "Bad Blood" video vixen described the memory saying:

"My dad really didn't understand that modeling was a real career. He thought modeling was like another name for prostitution. So they came with me to my very first modeling appointment."

Described in a press release, the series covers the evolution of the fashion industry and the shifting roles of women within it. The statement explained that the show "is the ultimate story of power and how four women came together to claim it, paving the way for those to follow."

It further emphasized, "Already forces in their own right, the gravitas they achieved by coming together transcended the industry itself." This statement highlighted that their prestige was so formidable that they became "as prominent as the designers who styled them."

It noted that even "today, the four supermodels remain on the frontlines of culture through activism, philanthropy, and business prowess." The famous women take on roles as executive producers for the series.

They are joined by notable figures like Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Sara Bernstein, Justin Wilkes, Barbara Kopple, Roger Ross Williams, and Geoff Martz. Since Crawford's days as a force to reckon with in the modeling world, she has also gone on to be successful behind the flashing lights of the camera.
