Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian is making the most of his paternity leave and inspiring fans along the way!
The billionaire, who has been a vocal supporter of fathers taking time off to spend at home with their newborns, reiterated his message once again in a recent social media post. He shared an image featuring him and his two girls — five-year-old Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., and newborn Adira River Ohanian— spending quality time together.
Alexis Ohanian Champions Men Taking Paternity Leave To Bond With Their New Babies
Even though we are still far from the end of the year, Alexis has been crowned the "Father of the Year" by all and sundry. He had earned the respect of many when he took to Instagram to drop a singular shot of himself sitting on a couch with his newborn daughter lying on his shoulder.
Olympia sat next to her dad, placing one hand on his left shoulder as they watched an episode of "Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir" on television. Underneath the sweet picture, the doting father of two penned, "#ParternityLeave."
Unable to resist the beauty in the intimate snap, many people double-tapped on it and others stepped into the comments section to express their love and appreciation for the Reddit co-founder.
While this person claimed, "There's nothing more magical than being a girl dad," another wished that her husband "had paternity leave! Ugh I'd love for him to spend our first few weeks as parents with us but it's just wishful thinking," finishing with "Congratulations on the new addition." The raw emotions in the comment not only tugged at people's hearts, it also got Alexis to respond. He stated:
"He really should. I've been fighting for it for all Americans since Olympia was born, but we've only gotten it for federal employees (so far). All the companies I've founded have had it and I've tried to set an example as a leader in those orgs to show that it's OK for men to take advantage of it - we're capable of showing up for our families AND still being high performers at work."
Amidst the emotionally charged atmosphere, a third netizen effused, "Thank you for normalizing paternity leave it is necessary. It's good for the new mom and for the baby too." The tech investor acknowledged the appreciative sentiment by liking it.
The last time the Williams-Ohanian household had thrilled fans with their family dynamic was last month when Serena uploaded a clip of her baby shower. As reported by The Blast, in the six-minute footage the retired tennis star shared, she is seen getting ready for the event with her loved ones.
As the party got underway, moving from day into night, Alexis is seen in a private clip revealing that he had a trick up his sleeve in the form of a celebratory cake. In his words:
"This cake is as basic of a gender reveal idea as I can come up with. Inside, it's yellow. I'm doing this because I want to troll her and Olympia into thinking that this is the reveal of Jelly Bean. She will cut into this cake, probably be disappointed, and hopefully appreciate my troll, but we'll see."
After the 40-year-old concluded his monologue, the video transitioned to his wife cutting into the cake, only to reveal a regular yellow filling inside. Serena's response to the prank was to playfully act as if she wanted to smear the piece she had cut out on his face.
Serena Williams' Announcement Of Baby Adira
Following the arrival of their second child together, Serena and Alexis disclosed the name and delivery date in separate Instagram posts. Leading the charge, Alexis posted a portrait of the family of four, writing in the accompanying caption:
"Welcome, Adira River Ohanian. I'm grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful. @serenawilliams you've now given me another incomparable gift — you're the GMOAT. Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter 🙏 I'll never forget the moment I introduced @olympiaohanian to her baby sister."
Likewise, his wife shared the same photo of her family, along with the baby's name in the caption. In the picture, the proud mother and Olympia wore pink outfits, while the family's patriarch donned a black polo shirt.
Well-known figures like Nene Leakes, Viola Davis, Porsha Williams Guobadia, Naomi Campbell, Kim Fields, and Ciara promptly left congratulatory comments in the section to celebrate the good news.
