Serena Williams Follows Through On Disney Themed Name After 2nd Baby's Arrival

Given Serena Williams' fierce nature on the tennis court, it's no surprise the name she has chosen to go with for her newborn daughter. 

The Tennis icon stole the world's heart with her and Alexis Ohanian's second pregnancy announcement at the 2023 Met Gala, where she debuted her baby bump in a body-hugging black Gucci dress. A few months after the event, the couple welcomed their new addition joining their first child, five-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

After the birth of the newborn, Williams' husband revealed the name and delivery date in an Instagram post alongside a portrait of the family of four. Ohanian's heartfelt caption read:

"Welcome, Adira River Ohanian. I'm grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful. @serenawilliams you've now given me another incomparable gift — you're the GMOAT. Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter ? I'll never forget the moment I introduced @olympiaohanian to her baby sister."

Similarly, Williams posted the same photo of her family accompanied by a caption of the baby's name. The proud mother and Olympia donned pink outfits in it, while the Reddit co-founder sported a black polo shirt. The infant being held by his mum was wrapped in a blanket.

As expected, familiar faces like Nene Leakes, Porsha Williams Guobadia, Viola Davis, Naomi Campbell, Ciara, and Kim Fields rushed to the comments section to congratulate the star and her family.

One follower penned, "Your little baby girl is so adorable and cute like her big sister, I'm sure she will grow up with a good heart, because she will be raised by kind hearted people. ? ? ? MATTERS PEOPLE PEACE&LOVE.”

A second stated, "Congrats Queen! Absolutely love the name! Such a beautiful family!" Someone else commented, "Aww congratulations Serena! To you and your beautiful family! So happy for you! ? ? ? ?.”

As stated earlier, the name 'Adira' was always written in the stars for the mother-of-two. In May, the expectant mother teased the idea that she was considering naming her child after a Disney character.

Although the Wimbledon star didn't mention any baby name at the time, however, she listed her favorite characters like Maleficent, Scar, Gaston, Lady Gothel, and Ursula. In Williams' words:

"Good Morning. I was thinking about… I don't know the gender; I don't know if we're having a girl or a boy. So, I'm thinking about some names, and I was like, maybe I should do something with my favorite Disney characters because I love Disney, and as you know, I'm like their biggest fan."

The chosen name Adira is a character in "Tangled: The Series" — a fierce and mysterious warrior who serves as Rapunzel's guide to the source of the ominous black rocks that have plagued parts of the world.

Before expanding their family, the power couple embarked on a delightful and serene "baby moon" vacation. And judging from the world-renowned athlete's post, the pair looked cheerful and relaxed.

In the shot, the "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" guest star looked incredible in a lilac long-sleeved dress from her fashion line, "Serena." The outfit exhibited her ample curves and baby as she posed makeup free with braids and simple pink uggs beside her spouse.

On the other hand, the entrepreneur kept his look casual with a black shirt and jeans ensemble accessorizing with just a wristwatch.  The simple caption alongside the snap read, "A night out in Bologna with some comfortable shoes and @alexisohanian @serena #babymoon #2023."
