Comedian Ron Funches Raises Nearly $20,000 For Homeless Shelter

Ron Funches raked in a big payday while filming his upcoming one-hour Comedy Central special, but he says he's giving it all back to the community by donating to a homeless shelter.

Funches recorded his first hour-long comedy special for the network back in June at Seattle's Neptune Theatre. When tickets went on sale, it was announced all proceeds from both sets would go to Mary's Place, a charity that operates emergency shelters for women and families in the Seattle area.

The actor/comedian just got the final ticket sales numbers and, along with a generous donation from Comedy Central, he raised over $18,000 for the nonprofit organization.

Funches tells The Blast, "I chose to donate to Mary's Place because I wanted to help the NW [Northwest] where I grew up," adding that he's a big supporter of all the work they do as "one of the few shelters that will actually take in men and not separate families."

Ron plans on visiting the charity in the future and says he'll continue to help them however he can.
