Jamie Lynn Spears Pledges To Donate 'DWTS' Salary Due To SAG & WGA Strikes

Actress Jamie Lynn Spears is pledging to donate whatever money she earns from appearing on season 32 of "Dancing With The Stars" amid the WGA writer's strike and the SAG-AFTRA actor's strike.

On the morning of Tuesday, September 12, her casting for season 32 was revealed only one day before ABC released the full line-up of celebrity contestants and their professional, dance partners, on Wednesday, September 13.

Shortly after the announcement was made, the “Zoey 101” star took to Instagram to share a photo of her posing on the Good Morning America set with “Dancing With The Stars” season 28 champion and “Dancing With The Stars” Juniors Champion, Alan Bersten, who will be her professional dancing partner for season 32.

“Decided to lace up my dancing shoes for a good reason,” Jamie Lynn wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “I was offered an opportunity that is completely out of the ordinary of something I would normally ever do, but it’s during a time where my community #SAG & #WGA are on strike & all of us members are unable to work until we have reached a fair resolution, so if I’m able to use this unique opportunity to bring more awareness and to donate the salary I get for dancing each week back to the community who has given me so much, then it’s the least I can do.”

“I could not ask for a better partner then @alanbersten to guide me through this adventure,” she continued. “I’m not gonna lie, I’m scared, but I’m just gonna have fun and hopefully be able to give back in a meaningful way until we can ALL GET BACK TO OUR DAY JOBS.” She ended her post with the hashtags #SAGAFTRASTRONG, #WGA, and #SAG.

Famous friends like Jessie James Decker applauded the decision. She wrote “Yayyy” along with alternating raised hands and red heart emojis while Jana Kramer exclaimed, “Yes girl!!!!!!” One fan commented, “So excited for you! Going to have to tune in this season for sure now!!” while another follower added, “Are you kidding me!?! I am here for EVERY bit of this!!!! Can. Not. Wait.”

Alan Bersten also took to Instagram to share the same photos of the two posing together. “Woooo!!!! I’m so excited to announce that I’m back for season 32 of @dancingwiththestars with my new partner @jamielynnspears !!!” he wrote in the caption. “Let’s go!” Jessie James Decker also dropped several applause emojis on this post as well, along with a very long “Woohoo.”

Although Jamie Lynn limits comments on her Instagram posts, Alan does not. Therefore, there were a lot of fans of her older sister, pop star Britney Spears, who questioned her appearance on the show. “I feel like I'm out of the loop. Does she do anything on her own, or is she just Britney's sister?” one user asked, to which fans were quick to point out she stared in “Sweet Magnolias” on Netflix.

She also got her start as a child star on “Zoey 101” and recently appeared in the “Zoey 102” movie. Other fans were disappointed to see that people were just dismissing Jamie Lynn due to her famous sister. “Awe come on everyone, give her a chance!!! It’s been years since we heard from her sister. See people already dissing them because of her sister’s popularity. It’s not right, IMO,” one fan commented. “Ok but if she uses Britney’s fame in the competition I will stop watching,” another follower wrote.

“You know she will and they’re gonna make her dance to Britney’s music without a doubt,” another user commented. “I really wish they don’t,” another fan replied. “That would be really messed up if that happened!” another follower exclaimed. “Oh, I hope not. That may push Britney Spears over the edge,” another fan wrote.

Producers love to stir the pot and they won’t let this ‘opportunity’ pass them by. She will dance to Britney’s music guaranteed,” another follower wrote. “It’s not like she has a choice- whether she wants to or not production will have her bring Britney up,” another fan agreed.

Fans will just have to tune in to season 32 of “Dancing With The Stars” to see how it all goes down! The show kicks off with a two-and-a-half hour premiere on September 26, followed by a “Dancing With The Stars”-themed episode of “Celebrity Family Feud.”
