Actress Jamie Lynn Spears, the little sister of pop star Britney Spears, has been tapped to join the next season of "Dancing With The Stars."
After appearing on the Fox reality show “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” last year, the “Zoey 101” star is again putting her athleticism to the test on a very different kind of stage.
Jamie Lynn Spears Has Joined ‘Dancing With The Stars’ For Season 32
On Tuesday, September 12, fans of the “Sweet Magnolias” actress were delighted to learn that Jamie Lynn Spears would be joining the celebrity cast of “Dancing With The Stars” for season 32. The show will return to ABC after two years as a Disney+ exclusive, but will also be available to watch on the streaming platform.
So far, the only two other celebrity contestants that have been announced are “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix and Charity Lawson from “The Bachelorette.” The rest of the celebrity cast, and their professional dance partners, will be announced on Wednesday, September 13, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Although the show was initially set to air on Monday night, the network has shifted the time slot to Tuesday nights. On September 26, the show will open with a two-and-a-half-hour premiere, followed by a 30-minute episode of “Celebrity Family Feud” with a “Dancing With The Stars” theme. It will then settle into its usual two-hour time slot the following week.
Jamie Lynn Spears Addresses Her Relationship With Britney Spears
Unfortunately, the two sisters had a disastrous falling out following the release of Jamie Lynn’s memoir, “Things I Should Have Said” in January 2022. The relationship between the two sisters had been strained due to the pop star’s 13-year conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021, but things took a turn for the worse following the publication of her memoir.
Britney took to social media at the time to ask her sister to “please, please stop with these crazy lies for the Hollywood books” and even called her sister “scum,” as previously reported by The Blast.
Ahead of the release of “Zoey 102” in July 2023, the child star talked to Variety about her strained relationship with her sister. Jamie Lynn said that she has “nothing but absolute love for every single one of my family members,” although she didn’t name Britney directly.
Jamie Lynn Says That She Doesn't Want Her Relationship With Britney To Make Her Daughter 'Sad'
“If I learned anything from last year, being so open and feeling like I had to defend myself at times, I don’t feel like there’s anything else that I need to say.” Jamie Lynn said, adding, “I just have to leave it where it is because those conversations are meant to be personal. All I can focus on now is my girls, my husband, and the work that I’m doing.”
The mother-of-two has been married to Jamie Watson since 2014 and revealed that although the public feud with the pop star made her sad, she does not want her daughter to feel the same negative emotions toward her aunt.
“I don’t want my daughter to feel that way. So I have to say I will absolutely not allow my children — especially my oldest daughter, who was very affected by all of it — I will not allow her to feel this way in her life,” Jamie Lynn said. “My strength is out of the love for my children and wanting to make sure that I don’t give way to anything other than what I know to be authentic and true. It was hard, but at the end of the day, look where I am now.”
Will The Two Sisters Ever Share The Stage Again?
Many fans have been wondering if Jamie Lynn Spears and the Princess of Pop will ever share the stage together again. Jamie Lynn confessed "I don't know" when asked by the publication and went on to say that she is really focused on her own career right now.
“I think right now I’m really just focused on me and what I’m doing,” she said. “I’ve worked very hard to be able to be a part of shows like ‘Sweet Magnolias.’ And then fighting hard to bring back a character from my childhood. That is all I can think about right now because my dreams are coming true.”
