Megan Thee Stallion is getting ready to dominate Hollywood like she frequently tops music charts!
Instead of embracing a different character, the sensational rapper brought her "classy, bougie, and ratchet" vibes to the upcoming film "Dicks: The Musical." The voluptuous goddess expressed excitement for the project in her latest social media update.
The Texas Southern University graduate, who previously starred on TV shows like "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" and "P-Valley, dropped a trailer for the musical. Additionally, she surprised fans with the comedy's release date amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
Megan Thee Stallion Makes Movie Debut In Upcoming Musical That Spins The Iconic 'Parent Trap' Film
The "Savage" hitmaker shared a nearly two-minute trailer for her new movie on her Instagram. The footage captured the lead actors Joshua Sharp and Aaron Jackson in the opening scenes, flaunting their comedic skills with an unexpected song about their oversized packages and extraordinary lives.
Next, Megan comes on screen as their boss, noting the duo were good at their jobs as salesmen and looked like identical twins. Plot twist: The caramel-toned beauty was right as the duo's half-heart lockets prove they were brothers.
"Wow, we're twins. We're f**king identical twins," the pair screamed in a scene. Although the duo were far from identical, hence the joke, the characters made it their mission to reunite their separated parents. The story brought to mind the iconic 90s film "The Parents Trap," starring Lindsay Lohan as both twins.
However, unlike the classic movie, the musical was comedic with plenty of gags and sexual innuendos. Megan gave a sexy performance in a song where she effortlessly rapped about being a female boss.
Part of the lyrics read: "Y'all just servants. This is my palace. Built it brick by brick. So get it in line. Drop to your knees, and suck my f**king dick." That was not the entertainer's only pivotal moment in the teaser, as we see her bursting out cool moves and even hitting someone in a scene.
"Hotties. SAG has approved us to promote my first film, 'DICKS: THE MUSICAL.' You all are not ready for this one," the chart-topper announced in the caption. "In theaters September 29." The post garnered over 300,000 likes and several comments from excited fans.
Many were happy the 28-year-old supported the SAG union, while others expressed interest in watching the musician's new movie. "I am SO glad you mentioned that SAG approved this and that you care about the strike!!!!!" A social media user exclaimed.
"I will unapologetically consume any media made by Megan Thee Stallion," another declared. A third chimed: "It's gonna be 'Grammy and Emmy winner Megan Thee Stallion' soon, ma." More fans echoed similar sentiments, with someone writing: "She-Hulk was only the beginning. I literally cannot wait for your actress era."
The movie was written and stars the comedians Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp. The project is a stage show-turned-movie directed by Larry Charles and features famous names like Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, and Bowen Yang.
Inside 'Dicks: The Musical' & What Makes The Project Stand Out From Other Movies
A candid review by Deadline described the upcoming musical as a "wicked exploration of twinhood and identity," where the main leads embark on a "wacky scheme to mend their estranged family." Each character was given a unique personality, bringing humor and complexity to the film.
Although it was centered on making the audience laugh, the movie addressed significant societal issues through its plot. The problems included "consent, workplace harassment, and toxic masculinity." The goal appeared to be a reminder that "laughter is our best defense against these grim realities."
Additionally, "Dicks: The Musical" took viewers down memory lane with sentimental childhood moments and a "visual commentary on adulthood." Despite being a comedic project, the movie brought its A-game with its fantastic musical production by Marius De Vries.
The script must have been epic since it enticed two musical theater icons, Nathan Lane and Megan Mullally, to participate in the project. The reviewer seemed to agree, as the ending left them speechless.
What can fans expect from watching "Dicks: The Musical?" They should be ready to have their hearts filled with the message "love is love." However, the lesson arrived ridiculously. The project's take on love might be for shock value or a reference to people's perspectives about the LGBTQ community.
