In a heartwarming and reassuring development, the former child star was spotted in public for the first time since her stay at the Orange County treatment facility, per TMZ.

Her appearance in public signaled that she had made progress and was deemed stable enough for outings, as she made a trip to Ralph's grocery store for some supplies.

A source close to her told the news outlet that she had "graduated to the center's minimal supervision group, which allows her to leave the property at certain hours so she can shop for herself or take walks."

Her progress has ensured that she doesn't have to be under lock and key, but she is reportedly still bent on staying at the center for a while as she continues working on herself and her mental health.

Bynes' recent sighting comes after the "Hairspray" star checked herself into an intensive inpatient mental health center, weeks after she checked out of a Los Angeles mental health facility for outpatient treatment, per TMZ.

According to the news outlet, Bynes' decision to ditch outpatient treatment came when she reckoned that she needed more help than the facility was providing, with further reports suggesting that she "wanted more of a therapeutic place to live rather than living by herself at her L.A. apartment."

At the time, a source told the publication that she decided to go into the intensive inpatient facility in Orange County by herself after she was introduced to it by her previous treatment center. She reportedly loved the center because it afforded her the chance to be around a medical team, therapists, and other patients and also have "social interaction and company."

Bynes had to be taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in June for a mental health evaluation after a call came in for a woman who was in distress, with the woman ending up being Bynes, per TMZ.

At the time, she was carted away to a nearby police station, where a medical team was on standby to evaluate her mental health. Eyewitnesses told the news outlet that she interacted with cops in a "calm" manner and was taken in one of the three cop cars that pulled up at her location.

It comes after the "What A Girl Wants" actress was found roaming the streets of downtown L.A. completely naked, leading to her being placed on her first psychiatric hold this year.

Bynes, in a similar fashion to singer Britney Spears, was pushed into a conservatorship in February 2008. It was struck down by a judge in November 2021.
