Speaking with the podcast hosts, ''Tim Murdock'' and ''Matt Emert,'' Williamson praised Campbell for her role as Prescott while seeing reasons for her decision to not move forward with the films due to a pay dispute with the studio.

He remarked, ''I totally respect her opinion. I know exactly where she's coming from. I know her well. I love and adore her, and that's what she did. It's right for her.''

He further stated, ''I love everyone involved with 'Scream' and all I can say is pay her the money. Yes, you heard it, everyone. That's what I would do; I would give her that.''

As fans may know, Campbell did not reprise her role for the sixth installment, which premiered in March this year and grossed $168 million at the global box office. Williamson added that he hopes the Canadian actress will be paid the same as every other actor in the series. He said, ''One day, they'll figure that all out.''

Back in March, during the premiere of ''Scream VI,''  the screenwriter touched on the ''Wild Things'' actress taking a leave from the movies after over two decades.

''There's always room for her to come back,'' Williamson disclosed at the event. He added, ''You know, the door is wide open, and if she ever wants to come to play with us again, we're here.''

The producer also clarified that there was no bad blood between him and the actress. He revealed that Campbell was his good friend and always stayed in touch. While the release of ''Scream VI'' was deeply welcomed by fans, other ''Scream'' stars, such as Jenna Ortega and Courteney Cox, revealed their displeasure over Campbell's absence.

Ortega, who starred as Tara Carpenter in the new installment, revealed she was disappointed that the Canadian star did not appear in the sixth installment. In an interview with Elle magazine, she said, ''It was really unfortunate. Especially because Neve is the coolest, sweetest, most talented lady. The franchise wouldn't be what it is without her.''

Meanwhile, Cox shared similar sentiments about the 49-year-old actress not making an appearance in the sixth movie. Cox, who reprised her role in the latest installment, playing the role of Gale Weathers in the franchise, supported her co-star's decision to exit.

She admitted in a friendly chat with Variety that the filming was different without Campbell. She said, ''I missed working with her. But I'm going to support whatever she feels is right.''

The Reason Behind Campbell's Decision To Exit The 'Scream' Franchise

Although the ''Skyscraper'' actress did not make an appearance in ''Scream VI,'' she still loves her ''Scream'' fans very much and even addressed why she exited the famous franchise.

Campbell revealed during an interview that her absence from the sixth sequel was strictly due to ''negotiation.'' She stated, ''I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years.'"

The ''Clouds'' actress explained that it was deeply unsettling for her because a man with her years of experience would not have been given such a discouraging offer.

In her words, ''As a woman in this business, I think it's really important for us to be valued and to fight to be valued. I honestly don't believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man.''

While the Hollywood star wanted to be there for fans of the franchise, she could not bring herself to ignore the undervaluing.  She remarked, ''I couldn't walk on set feeling that – feeling undervalued and feeling the unfairness, or lack of fairness, around that.''

Neve Campbell

Before the release of ''Scream 6'' in March 2023, Campbell dashed fans' hope of seeing her back on the screens with a statement alluding to the fact that she wasn't being paid her worth in June 2022.

The actress remarked, ''Sadly I won't be making the next Scream film. As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.''

Addressing her fans, she confessed, ''It's been a very difficult decision to move one. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You've always been so incredibly supportive to me. I'm forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.''
