Bethenny Frankel has criticized Joe Jonas for allegedly "spinning" his and Sophie Turner's divorce.
The reality television star has claimed in a new social media video that Jonas' supposed tactic of smearing his estranged wife's name with headlines about her partying is "backfiring." Frankel has joined the growing list of celebs who have publicly shared their opinion about the collapse of the boy band member and the "Game of Thrones" alum's marriage since the news broke over the last weekend.
Bethenny Frankel Believes 'Camping' Started 'Too Early' For Joe Jonas Amidst His Separation From His Wife
Frankel has once again expressed herself concerning a trending controversial figure, this time laser-focusing on Jonas and Turner's impending divorce. In a video shared via TikTok on Wednesday, the former "Real Housewives of New York City" star began:
"You got me cooking on this. Sophie Turner and one of the Jonas guys divorces. So from my perspective, the Jonas Brothers sang catchy pop tunes. And then one day, I really noticed them as adults when they both raised their stocks and marry these women. So one, I don't care."
"So now this one's getting a divorce, and I just wanna know who his publicist is, because that's what does happen. It's not that easy to avoid. And you have to avoid it, because you cannot mess around with the media. The media is the ocean, okay? Once in a while, you catch a good wave, no problem. But the media, it will just take you over like a big wave." the mother-of-one explained.
Recalling how things were done by "my former team that represented Kim Kardashian,' she said:
"His PR team definitely said, 'We know this is coming, and we've got to spin this thing. We've got to go and try to control the ocean.' And her team probably was just not teaming. And now it's a boomerang and it seems like it's backfiring. Cause do not underestimate the intelligence and instincts of women. And I'm hearing all of you, and you know you're smarter than the media in many cases. Not all the time, but I'm just hearing this and it sounds like a camp started camping too soon."
The clip, which Frankel captioned, "Whoa… please correct me and fill me in," quickly caught traction, earning over 14k likes from her devoted fans. They also took to the comments section to drop their own opinions on the actress' thoughts.
One person agreed, "The camp starting camping wayyyyy too soon," and another echoed, "Right?!?! His camp is definitely camping and I love that she's keeping her hands clean."
"I didn't know who Joe Jonas was until he married Sophie Turner," a third viewer claimed, and a fifth declared, "This is such a good take on the media! Spot on explanation."
Frankel's spotlight on the ongoing conflict comes shortly after The Blast noted that Turner and Jonas had issued a joint statement regarding their split, penning:
"After four years of wonderful marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but, truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
'The Big Shot with Bethenny' Star Is In No Hurry To Marry Her Partner
As reported by The Blast, the 52-year-old seemed to be drawing inspiration from Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell's enduring relationship, as she currently has no immediate plans to walk down the aisle with her longtime partner and fiancé, Paul Bernon.
As it turned out, she had revealed that despite being engaged for two years, she and her man are yet to solidify any wedding plans, and the notion of a formal marriage ceremony might not be part of their future. In the words of "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" 2nd runner-up:
"I don't want to build a wedding. I love my life, I love my fiancé. He's an amazing life partner, and I don't want to sign a contract with someone I love, and I don't want to plan a massive wedding for everybody else and not what we want."
The "Bethenny & Fredrik" star emphasized her preference for doing what feels right for them rather than conforming to societal expectations. The superstar had said yes to Bernon in 2021, shortly after Frankel finalized her challenging divorce from her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy.
