NBC Defends 'The Tonight Show' Amid Staffer Horror Stories About 'Toxic' Jimmy Fallon

Ever since Rolling Stone basically did an exposé on Jimmy Fallon and the "toxic work" environment of 'The Tonight Show,' Fallon has been receiving a ton of flak for it all.

He did apologize to his staff via Zoom and NBC has also jumped up to defend him but as far as social media is concerned, Fallon was always a "problematic t--t nozzle!"

Jimmy Fallon seems to have well, fallen from grace, as a new article by Rolling Stone claims that the fun, bubbly persona he has for his show, is just that, for show. Rolling Stone alleges to have spoken to 50 current and ex-staffers of 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,' and then spoke to another 30 - and not one had anything good to say about their time with the show, Fallon and the showrunners.

There have been claims of Fallon being inebriated on the job, forgetting his lines, and getting confused about the script but what's worse is that everybody tends to walk on eggshells around him, allegedly because Fallon can fly off the handle in seconds. Staffers have "cry rooms" where they go and have a good tear session to deal with the stress and talk about "good Jimmy days" and "bad Jimmy days," depending on Fallon's mood.

He's accused of writing passive-aggressive notes to his staffers like, "Are you OK? Seriously, do you need help?" He'd belittle and berate them and cause them acute mental trauma. Some described the working conditions as a nightmare.

With so much flak coming his way, Fallon still hasn't gone on public record with any comments, although he apologized to staffers in an all-hands Zoom call. As per reports, Fallon said, "It’s embarrassing and I feel so bad. Sorry if I embarrassed you and your family and friends… I feel so bad I can’t even tell you."

For now, 'The Tonight Show' is in the dark given the SAG-AFTRA writer's strike but with these new accusations in play, everyone's gotta be thinking, will it be Fallon in the host seat, given he's in the hot seat?

Despite accusations of several employees actually having physical health issues due to mental stress, like losing weight and suffering from thinning hair and weaker nail beds, NBC is standing behind Jimmy Fallon, without actually mentioning his name.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, in response to the article, an NBC spokesperson reportedly stated, "e are incredibly proud of The Tonight Show, and providing a respectful working environment is a top priority."

They further stated, "As in any workplace, we have had employees raise issues; those have been investigated and action has been taken where appropriate. As is always the case, we encourage employees who feel they have experienced or observed behavior inconsistent with our policies to report their concerns so that we may address them accordingly."

Yet, the report alleges things that are diametrically opposite to this. Employees have reported that none of the nine showrunners were ever able to handle Fallon and any reporting of issues led to the firing of the employee. In fact, none of these showrunners have come on record with any statement of support towards the show or Fallon himself, giving more fodder to the firestorm surrounding Fallon's toxic work environment. Employees were known to routinely talk about killing themselves and many voluntarily quit despite landing their "dream jobs."

One instance narrated by a staffer was when Jerry Seinfeld made Fallon apologize to someone he had been rude to in an awkward moment, but Seinfeld refutes it all, saying, "It was not uncomfortable at all. Jimmy and I still occasionally recall it and laugh. Idiotic twisting of events."

Social media has decided to lay it on on Fallon, with many claiming they "always knew" he was a bad egg, and others saying they were now waiting for the others (like Jimmy Kimmel) to fall.
